hi sir....i want to know how are fighter jets in PAF washed.....are they washed with pipes in hanger just like cars are or they are washed in some closed cabin which has internal heating and stuff and also are airplanes polished,,,,,,just like car polish and also is the washing of airplane also falls under the category of an "operation"....like some officer leads the washing or jco's and nco's can wash the airplane whenever they want..

thanks in advance.

Well I don't know about airforce jets, but navy helis are rolled through a area, and water at high speed comes from beneath and the sides, so as to wash the salt and other sea objects away. Then it is done by hand.

interesting question...

one more question why there isnt a wind shield wiper in a fighter plane

Nothing much you need a packet of ariel or surf excel , The size of the packet depends upon the size of the aircraft, if the aircraft is mirage-3 then you need a packet of 1000grams but if it is k-8 then 500grams and for mushak 250-grams , When you are done with the washing powder stuff call a lala with naswar . he will wash it inside out . For just wash 200 rupees and for full service including tyre and HUD wash 350 rupees and if you want canopy or wing polish 150 for that ... for drying up missiles 250 separately...wait he can also spray diesel inside intakes if you are willing to spend 20 rupees more . You are done ;)

lol what kind of question was that? and you opened a thread for it

What a happy coincidence, I just came back from a night out with a freind who had just returned from India where he was a lead consultant on fitting a cleaining system for IAF Super Herc at AFB HINDON, this is the system he fitted:

C-130J_Hercules_cleaning.jpg

Not sure if this is how they do all planes and helos but he said that his company had just finished a large project for IAF to fit many of these in numerous IAF bases for cleaning fighters and smaller transports (maybe helos, though he made no mention of them).

Hope this helps friend.

Wipers? Why do you need that? First of all, at the speed, say 1.5Mach, the air resistance will snap off the wipers forget even allowing them to work. Secondly, the air resistance moving against the screen/cockpit would take with it any dew/water droplets formed.

Helicopters and cargo planes like C-130 however cannot experience the same air resistance and speed which gives them a compulsion to have wipers.

BTW is it advisable to wash aircraft with only Front loader washing powder or can a Top loader detergent be used without any ill affects ?
