Wang urges Pak investors to explore business in Kashgar

ISLAMABAD - Deputy Commissioner of Kashgar Wang Yongzi on Monday urged the Pakistani investors to explore business opportunities in Kashgar Special Economic Zone, which is emerging as the next economic hub in the region.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kashgar as the head of a seven-member Chinese delegation visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here and discussed different options with the local business community to further strengthen the trade and economic relations between the two countries. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Kashgar said they have come with a mission to directly interact with Pakistani businessmen and explore all new avenues of mutual cooperation to further expand the existing business relations between Pakistan and China.
He said that many Pakistani products including agro products, fruits and textiles have great potential in China and Pakistani entrepreneurs should study Chinese market to enhance export of these products to China. He appreciated the commencement direct flights of Rayyan Air between Islamabad and kashgar as it would help in promoting trade as well as people-to-people level relations between the two countries. He assured that Kashgar administration would extend all possible support for successful operation of Rayyan Air.
Speaking on the occasion Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI, welcomed the Chinese delegation and hoped that its visit would produce positive results. He said the very first official visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to China is a clear reflection of the fact that Pakistan gives top priority to further strengthening its relations with China.
He was hopeful that US$ 18 billion joint venture of Pak-China economic corridor, which includes construction of modern road and railway links between Kashgar and Gwadar, would not only boost trade and industrial activities in the region, it would also promote tourism in both countries.
He said construction of 200 kilometer long tunnel in between corridor would be a new wonder of the world and would unleash tremendous business opportunities for entrepreneurs of both countries.
Zafar Bakhtawari said that lack of information about Chinese trade rules and regulations is a major barrier in promoting trade with China and stressed the need of creating better awareness about these rules by organizing seminars at Pakistani Chambers of Commerce & Industry, which would greatly facilitate bilateral trade promotion.
He said China should allow business agreements with Pakistani counterparts in English language as its condition of signing agreements in Chinese language is a major problem because Pakistani businessmen have to sign such agreements without fully understanding their text. He emphasized for soft visa policy to boost trade relations.
Speaking on the occasion, Fateh Sher Bhatti, CEO of Rayyan Air, said that Rayyan has initially started one flight in a week on every Wednesday between Islamabad and Kashgar and the frequency of flights would be gradually enhanced to two flights per week with ultimate plan to two flights per day.
He said Rayyan Air charges just US$ 290 person which is cheapest air fare as compared to other airlines and it will remain the same for one year. He said direct flight from Islamabad to Kashgar takes just one hour and stressed that Pakistani businessmen should take advantage of this facility to explore business opportunities in Kashgar.
