What's new

Walton’s founder MD making large investments in cosmetics

Nowadays I am starting to have a different take on the education issue. I previously thought poor quality education is the reason for not many business successes. I now think high quality education is required for scientific and technology fields, in the business field the education that is there is good enough and even no business discipline education is not required for a successful businessman. Great business education makes great employees in businesses, they don't make great businessmen. Businessmen need international exposure.
Totally agreed. The traditional education system is becoming obsolete now. Any subject can be self taught and only exposure in real world can make those education worth anything. Cousera udemy is making education kinda free for everyone and on demand.

Thank you bro.

Very good suggestion.

Then let’s at least try at Zila level.

Even BlueSky will support taking loans for this endeavour.

I don’t want fighter jets.

Let’s build some high quality schools with proper facilities both educational and recreational.

Otherwise we have no hope!!!

There needs to be a balance between defence and development.

Look what has happened to BD with a weak foreign policy that was probably the result of weak BAF. Over 1 million Rohingya have been dumped into it.

BD should be looking at ordering 1-2 squadrons of 4+ generation fighter jets immediately and more to follow in the 2nd half of this decade. The sums are actually small compared to what BD will generate in exports this decade ~ 2% and that would be an asset that would last for 30 years with upgrades.

At the least it needs to make sure it is militarily superior to a Myanmar that wants to cause trouble from time to time.

Bro, we cannot afford to go to war given our reliance on exports.

Burmese military doesn’t give a shit about its people.

The savages will only need to hit two or three targets to destroy our economy.

Hence I do not see any value in fighter jets.

However, we need a strong navy to protect our trade and marine resources.

Only soft power will strengthen us.

In this case, the pen is mightier than fighter jets.

It is not about going to war but about having the ability to hit back hard as a form of deterrence.

Myanmar does what it wants as it knows BD cannot hit back due to almost non-existant airforce.

BD anyway should have already started constructing an air-defence network to protect vital infrastructure like ports, bridges and power stations. MRSAMs would do as BD is not that big and we are only looking at 1-2 billion US dollars to protect the whole country. It is not much money but no-one in a position of power seems to be doing much.

There are plenty of ways without hurting BD's development to make its defences much stronger.

If you do not lock your door when you go out, do not be suprised if a thief one day comes in and takes away your valuables.

PS - What is the point of a strong navy without air-cover? Even MRSAMs on the ships will not be enough to protect them from MAF or IAF strikes using anti-ship missiles.

Our navy doesn’t need fighter jets cover because it is not there to fight nation states.

It is there to kill or capture pirates and smugglers.

When we ramp up our trade with Africa - navy will be very important to protect trade routes.

They need airforce support for supplies and logistics.

We really need some world class schools at district level otherwise we will never make a leap forward.

Garments and home appliances will see us through this decade.

So we have a decade to build for the next phase.

Our academic infrastructure is just too piss poor. It makes me cry!!!

Lol. Atleast he picked a sector that sells. Nothing else sells in Bangladesh.

Why do you intentionally and deliberately trigger people with these clueless hijacking trolling comments. Everyday and in every thread....

Don't you have anything better or relevant to contribute - other than waste people's time? If you have nothing better to say then better to not say anything.

@WebMaster, @The Eagle bhais - you wonder why there are such virulent reactions from Bangladeshis to Indians - please see this guy's stupid look-down-the-nose comments....there are half a dozen other "trigger-specialists" including that SMX guy now, posting these kinds of hijack comments in every Bangladeshi thread.

I myself tell people to ignore these guys, but few listen.

Put them on ignore list and don't reply. Flies only come if there is poop left in the open, no poop no flies as there is no food.

Ya, I think courage and mentality is the main quality of any businessmen. And also they mostly generalist, understand and have interest in so many areas, not specific on one specialized knowledge, because running business needs broad knowledge, especially when we are still in start up level.

If an Atheist can be really brave, a believer like us can take a lesson, but I am agree on Elon Musk, starting a business should be started before we have a family
