After Oppo and Xiaomi, will VinSmart be the third phone company in the world to feature in-screen camera technology for its upcoming high-end smartphone?
After the success of Vsmart Live and Vsmart Active 3, all the attention of the technology industry continues to focus on the new Vsmart model that is expected to launch in the near future. According to some unconfirmed sources, Vsmart Lux will be the name of this 'mysterious' smartphone.
With a price of less than 10 million dong (432 USD), Vsmart Lux (supposedly) will be equipped with more advanced configuration and features than Vsmart Live and Active 3, with a Snapdragon 768G chip supporting 5G. Of course, this information just stopped at the level of speculation, when Vinsmart has not published any official information about the next generation of Vsmart phones.
But recently, admin Tran Hiep of Tinh Te Technology Forum shared a leaked video believed to be of Vsmart Lux, giving the first close-up view of this smartphone.
The design of the screen is said to be by Vsmart Lux (Screenshot)
Even though the clip is of poor image quality, we can still clearly see Vsmart Lux's screen design. The machine has a thin forehead / chin, making the ratio of display to screen of the device reach an optimal ratio. The interface of the machine is quite similar to the interface version VOS 3.0 operating system on Android 10, with the appearance of the messaging application VMessage usually pre-installed on the Vsmart line and some 5G-related applications.
Vsmart Lux will most likely use the VOS 3.0 interface
However, the most noticeable point in the leaked video of Vsmart Lux came from the front camera. Although the screen design is quite similar to Vsmart Active 3, but this new smartphone model of Vsmart does not have a 'sticking' camera cluster as its predecessor. Looking closely, the ultra-thin upper bezel of Vsmart Lux does not seem to have the appearance of a front camera cluster similar to the design of Vsmart Live.
No camera protruding, no camera placed in the border, is this new Vsmart model equipped with a hidden camera under the screen? (Screenshots)
It is this detail in the clip that has made many technology users question: Will VinSmart will equip the hidden camera technology under the screen for its upcoming high-end smartphone?
Will Vsmart Lux be the first smartphone in the world to feature a camera hidden under the screen?
After the design of the water drop screen, punched screen or camera "poking", the camera hidden under the screen is considered the final destination in an effort to optimize the display area on the smartphone. When the camera is activated, the image pixels in front of the camera module become transparent, thus allowing the camera module below the screen to record the user's image. When the camera is not in use, these pixels will display as normal.
No smartphones with hidden camera technology have been launched yet
However, due to the newly developed, hidden camera technology under the screen is still not really ready. So far, only two Chinese smartphone companies, Oppo and Xiaomi, have announced successful development of this technology. However, smartphones with built-in cameras hidden behind Oppo and Xiaomi screens only exist as test prototypes and have not yet been officially launched.
In the case of Vsmart Lux, if this smartphone really integrates the technology, this will be a big step for Vietnamese smartphones in the technology race compared to foreign smartphone companies. Vsmart Lux may even be the first smartphone in the world with hidden camera technology, if the leaked video is confirmed by VinSmart.
