I don't see the F35 or Rafale M coming to India any time soon even though Rafale M has better chances that F35 due to it's commonality with IAF's Rafales but given its exorbitant cost, chances are nascent. There are high chances Vikrant's air wing would consist of Mig-29K/KUB as it is relatively way cheaper and IN has vast experience operating them. Only if Mig-29's serviceability is improved, it could serve the purpose. Naval Tejas is also a great aircraft but due to it's lack of range (even though the range can be improved by using external fuel tanks), I see it more like a support aircraft to the MIGs and for defensive purpose of the AC rather than the mainstay of Vikrant's air wing.

To be fair the cost of buying 40 rafale will be over 10 billion dollars.

The Carrirr r cost 2.5,billion so I agree I can't see Indians having the naval .budget to buy rafale.

Mig 29k wing would cost around 3.5billion I think for forty plus planes of which ten planes,would becland based reserves and 30 on the carrier just like vikramditya

What?u want make a vikrant operated so close to our enemy shoreline or what?

I think we will go for mig29k.

Reason for not seeing rafale is,so far rafale M isn't tailor made for operating from a sky jump platform, so IN may have to pay French company for the R&D work,which isnt justifiable for a single vikrant class. Thing can be changed if IN goes for follow on vikrant class. Otherwise we will operate mig29k and few LCAs in order to satisfy HAL's ego.
