BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 A.M.) – Video footage has emerged over pro-ISIS and terror watch social media sources showing Islamic State forces organizing themselves near the Iranian border in eastern Iraq.

Some optimistic pro-Islamic State sources are hailing the emergence of this video as proof of a so-called ISIS 2.0.

The video shows Islamic State fighters, some mounted on pick-up trucks with heavy machine guns, mustering ranks in Iraq’s Diyala province, very close to Iran’s western border with the country.

Since the terrorist group lost virtually all of its urban strongholds in Syria and Iraq (with some of the biggest blows in this regarding being dealt over the course of 2017), more and more evidence has appeared which suggests that it is trying to re-organize its remaining forces underground.

Following the official clearance of Anbar province and the Western Desert from ISIS by Iraqi forces, specialized pro-government counter-terrorism units have begun a campaign of rooting out the remaining Islamic State elements in the country which are attempting to re-group underground for the initiation of a protracted low-intensity insurgency.
