Victory for PTi In Azad Kashmir Local bodies Elections

.
AJK politics is based on local leadership, they don't know much about Nawaz or Zardari, its mainly about baradarism and tribe.
yeah one of the biggest evils of pakistani society........ shaksiat parasti!

.
It's local personalities. Like my family vote for PPP because the local PPP candidate is of the Jatt caste and a muhajir.

In our village areas, they still discriminate on the basis of caste and on the basis of whether you migrated at partition or not. Even today the mentality remains.

If the same guy stood for PTI they'd all vote PTI.

In recent general elections his vehicle was shot at by the PTI people and his guards shot and killed one of the PTI supporters. Who started it, Allah knows only, both parties claim to be victims. Anyway, after that people from our villages for a few months could not safely travel through the villages which were PTI affiliated out of fear of violent retribution. This is all inspite of the fact these villages are 15 minutes away by car, 5 if the roads weren't utter shit. People are school/college friends, attend each others weddings and funerals, but when it comes to politics, they all get very tribal.

In that situation and atmosphere, people have to stick to their "own".
Hence why people deserve chatrool

If people are still stuck jayhlia of racism then they deserve more chatrool

Hence why I encourage twice a day chatrool

What an absolute shit show

Just another example as to why democracy is a burden in an uneducated uncivilised population.

We need a system that caters to our current needs and perhaps later we can switch to democracy

Issue with the western democracy model is the public are asked to elect somebody with limited knowledge on the policies they are promising, the public dont have the time to do allot of research either they are left with limited options then to chose from. I would prefer a approach where experts in their fields (abit like a guild for a profession) cast their votes for a leader. These guilds can represent the populace as anyone can join them through apprenticeship programmes. The leaders should have a set criteria which needs to be fulfilled even before being considered, for e.g if economic growth is needed for next 10-20 years then the leadership leaning should be for those who have experience and expertise in this area. Also morally they need to be clean (islamic perspective) and not be compromised with having business empires in foreign lands.

Yeah, we need a unique system that fits our specifc circumstances and culture. We cannot copy and paste foreign systems as our societies and culture differ greatly.

Your suggestion may be viable but the question arises, will they be more susceptible to corruption and being bought out?

Unfortunately everything is corruptible, but the right checks and balances can make it work. Pakistan probably needs a military dictator or a single party which sole purpose is economic development, that atleast will end petty politics, instability maybe give sometime for the country to stabilise and grow. Many hate the CCP but they have shown their model worked for the Chinese people, a British style democracy would never have worked off the cuff.

Completed agree with you, I'm not against military involvement in politics but they are severely incompetent at it, partially due to allowing nepotism to take place at national institutions - which we simply cannot afford. Those who control sensitive aspects of the country like economic policies must strictly be chosen based on meritocracy, you cannot afford incompetency at this level, it deteriorates the situation at exponential rates.

But I feel the establishment thinks as long as someone has X qualification or a little bit of experience, everything will be fine. They tend to have a very desi-uncle narrow vision of thinking, like things will be fine as long as someone has a small amount of experience or X qualification, when in reality there needs to be a much stricter vetting process and competency level. This mindset is present in a lot of institutions which has deteriorated them and not shown any progression.

Yeah, currently in and around Mirpur, originally from across the LOC in Rajouri district.

Our roots are Punjabi, but our ancestors migrated about 10 generations ago.
My family is also from Mirpur. My father told me our family has always been in Kashmir. My father was born in a place called Mota Jand (our ancestral village) which is under waters now due to Mangla/Jari kas dam. But we been settled in the UK since the early 50’s. Mirpur is only 10 mins away from our town.

This bradari and tribalism system is perpetrated by cousin marriages.

High time this practice stops.
