A band of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists, sporting saffron bandannas and scarf, stopped men they suspected to be non-Hindus, put vermillion tika on their forehead and made them chant Jai Sriram before letting them inside the venue of Navratri celebrations in this state capital town.

VHP has put up bill boards outside all major venues where garbas are being held during the nine-night Navratri festival of songs and dance which say, No entry for non-Hindus. VHP has made mandatory for non-Hindus to sport vermillion tika on their forehead and be purified by sprinkling cow urine if they want to participate in garba.

In the state capital too, the VHP had put up similar sign boards outside the Navratri venue and deployed vigilant squads of volunteers at the entrance to check the religion of every male visitor. On suspecting a group of men, wearing shirts and trousers, as being non-Hindus, the VHP stopped them at the main gate and made them chant Jai Sriram and put a vermillion tika on their forehead before letting them inside the venue.

A posse of policemen present there watched this from a safe distance.
