As long as you keep harping the words Muslim Muslim you will never be able to build a strong nation neither in east nor in west. These are backward non progressive word devour of current world reality.
Work hard, be practical, build a inclusive society which will give you far more strength than what you anticipate.
Just a few points.
I don't know your world view, but mine's is framed by a simplistic understanding of Islam but with a cognizance of the reality of how the world really works. (I grew up in the US and have been avidly following politics, history and military matters my whole life since I was a small kid.)
Meaning I try to view whats happening in the world right now with what Islam tells us all how to behave. (I will speak about this strictly abstracted to the geopolitical level)
I am fully aware of the grey nature of world issues and multiple factors regarding nation-states behavior's.
But some things are happening, whether you recognize or like it or not.
I am gonna jump to South Asia specifically now.
A simple point I want to make is that if Bangladesh EVER thinks a BJP led India is a well wisher, then Bangladesh is deluded.
Sometimes though I wonder, is Hasina really that blinded by personal grudges, or she more chalak than we give her credit for.
The one argueable fact is that the economy is improving and she is attempting to elevate the country.
But this pandering to India and this anti-Pakistan stance is foolish in the long run.
The worst nightmare for South Asia would be an unchecked virulent BJP led India.
Now I am fully aware of the spectrum of opinions that exist in India.
But I am absolutely appaled by what I have seen on Indian media in the last week.
They make Fox News look like NPR.
This does not bode well for South Asia if this type of thinking is in mass media in the "largest democracy" of the world.
I have seen what Fox News has done to the common American.
The other point I wanna make is that whatever is happening in South Asia extends much further out than that.
Here, do me a favor. Open up any yahoo news article regarding India and Pakistan and start reading the comments.
This should tell you where Muslims stand in the court of public opinion.
I don't know if you've ever spent extened time outside of BD but I can tell you most people can't and dont care if your from BD or PK.
Their criteria for their viewpoint is whether you idenitfy as muslim or not.
Also, Islam isn't outdated.
Actually whats remarkable is if you really look into it, Islamic viewpoints regarding whats happening in the world are completely applicable as it almost seeks to address human nature which is immutable.
It's just that muslim majority countries have been led by leaders who pay lip service to Islam.
Which is why we are in the state of affairs that we are now.
Finally, my hope for Bangladesh is that it continues its economic assent.
The lives of ordinary people are improved.
Bangladesh doesn't lose its Islamic identity for the sake of "inclusion"
And I hope the Bangladesh military finally gets some teeth.
Ultimately, I hope there is closer "real" cooperation in the spirit of "real" brotherhood amongst the muslim majority nations in the world.
And I hope Bangaldesh has something significant to contribute some day.
