"From a military standpoint, this is a very, very difficult fight," the top U.S. general said at a press conference following an international Ukraine support conference at Germany’s U.S. Ramstein Air Base.
"For this year, it would be militarily difficult to eject the Russian forces from every inch of Russian occupied Ukraine," Milley added, noting that it could still be possible.

Miley said he believed the war would end at a negotiating table, and said Putin "should and could" end the war today.

I think Putin's gameplan is to keep the war going for atleast another year, and up the pressure and get better terms for the end of the war dynamics. The US general election in 2024 will be interesting. Currently the Republican Party is in a civil war between the Neocon faction and the Trump/Tucker Carlson wing which wants to pull out of Ukraine. If the US foreign policy apparatus implodes like it did in the 2016 election, when Clinton who wanted an intervention in Syria lost, then Its very unlikely Europe will "go it alone", and potentially capitulate without US backing and facilitation of support.

Chance of Trump win 2024 is near zero, you just need to look at Mid-Term 2022, and then the debacle of House Speaker vote, Trump brand is gone and has been since 2020. Everybody know it but Trump.

On the other hand, US already pledged support post 2024, and if they are going to pass the other bill that secure that 45 bil lodged last December passed both house (Definitely Senate, highly likely Congress) then US support to Ukraine would remain at least until 2026. With or Without Biden in power.

This US general was basically saying that he believes Ukraine is a lost cause.
lol, I don't know if you just read the title and decided to post stuff. This is NOT what he said at all.

He said most war ends with negotiation, and it's US job to have Ukraine at the best position as possible to negotiate when the time come. Nobody expect Ukraine to roll over EVERY Russian position which include Crimea and Donbas, you can't undo 8 years of occupation in just 1 year of fighting, Crimea alone would have take Ukraine at least 5 years to claws back if they want to.

The goal is and always roll back Russia to pre-2022 line, it's not at all realistic to take Crimea at the end of 2023. You will need a navy for that.

Ukraine is in ruins, civilians fled this country and probably would never come back, maybe this is the best position for Ukraine, the country is done.

lol, Ukraine is not done, if they are done, would they keep on fighting??

And most Ukrainian are not permanently displace in fact, 4.5 million Ukrainian had already went back to Ukraine.

Ukraine is the biggest loser in this war, it'll take decades for the rebuild, the suffering will last for generations to come. This is what every nation should have learned.

. . .
Really? Ukraine is burning, not Russia and Ukraine is ok.. lol

You can deal with fire, all you need is a fire truck, you can't deal with shortage of just about everything.

Do you know anyone live in Russia? Maybe if you do, it's time to check on them.

P.S. Rebuilding Ukraine has already started, and it wouldn't take "Years" as you said. Maybe in China it will take that long? I don't know.

Aa gaye na aukaat pe.
Guys how many times I have to tell on this forum that ultimately Russia is going to win this war anyway. Just look at their history they can fight for a long long time until the enemy gets tired. Their resilience is second only to afghans lol.

. .
This is exactly the situation in Ukraine, you don't expect to find electrictiy, running water, hospitals, schools, stores... in ruins, do you?
lol, you do know Ukraine still have all those, right?? That was so Oct 2022.

On the other hand, a country famous for their Potatoes production is short of Potatoes......

. .
incidentally they don't have power but they can still make Youtube Video??

And then they have this

And on the other hand, Russia goes from being G-8 and G-20 to the world no longer needed Russia
