Uzair Baloch: better a dead man or living threat to PPP?

Lyari mobster, crime boss and political worker Uzair Jan Baloch, the former chief of the militant group formed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the Peoples Aman Committee (PAC), was acquitted of attempted murder and robbery by a Sessions Court on April 8. Not surprisingly, the prosecution remained “unable to prove the charges” against him and his brother. Even the vaunted US criminal justice system could not convict Al Capone. Laughing at the trembling witnesses in court, he used to call out to them by name. Fearing for their lives they recanted their evidence. The FBI ultimately sent Capone to jail for tax evasion. Confessing to over 100 cases with specifics involving murders, extortion, arms smuggling, attacks on police and Rangers, etc, can Uzair Baloch be convicted (except by a military court) given the state of our lower judiciary?

Despite vociferous denials by PPP leaders, Uzair Baloch’s close links with their party is a matter of record.

Joining notorious gang leader Rahman Dakait when his father, transporter Faiz Baloch, was kidnapped for ransom and killed by Lyari mobster Arshad Pappu, Uzair Baloch carved out a niche for himself in Lyari’s underworld after the death of Dakait in an encounter with police in 2009. Avenging his father in the most gruesome manner he dominated Lyari by eliminating opponents. Attacking law enforcers at will, he strengthened the Baloch separatist organizations engaged in an insurgency against the State.

Despite vociferous denials by PPP leaders, Uzair Baloch’s close links with their party is a matter of record. In late 2015 a video footage by one of the private television channels confirmed various PPP lawmakers from Lyari to be hand in glove with this murderous gangster. Taking an oath of allegiance to Uzair Baloch, they vowed they would defect to any other party if he so decided. Faryal Talpur, Asif Zardari’s sister, was presented a gift of the Holy Quran by Uzair Baloch. Along with PPP leaders including Ms. Shehla Raza, former Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah visited him shortly when he took an oath of office as CM after the 2013 election. These meetings took place between 2012 and 2013 when the PPP’s Sindh government had withdrawn head money of Rs. 2 million on Uzair Baloch and two other members of the PAC without giving any reason.

For reasons best known only to the former CJ, he directed Gen. Ijaz not to make this public in an open court but to give it to the Registrar in a sealed envelope. No further action was taken.

Providing incontrovertible evidence against him to the then CM, in 2012, the then DG Rangers, Maj. Gen. (later Lt. Gen. and Corps Commander 5 Corps at Karachi) Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry insisted on arresting him and those in the government supporting him. Evidence about the PPP-MQM-ANP Sindh Coalition Government using criminals for their governance was presented by him to the Chief Justice (CJ) Supreme Court (SC) Iftikhar Chaudhry.

.
PPP has a bhutto that never dies .............. I don't see any harm in them having a Uzair that after being hanged till death, should never die.

Kal b bhutto zinda tha ajj bhi bhutto zinda hy is their original slogan ............. gift them another one like "Kal b uzair zinda tha ajj bhi uzair zinda hy".

.
Uzair has exposed gadari party head to toe. He is a threat against gadari party but hanging him is the right thing to do.

. . . .
Hanging him and arresting his masters is the right thing to do! But in Pakistan military will keep him alive and use him to get better deals from PPP! Thats how our military operates!

. . .
If I recall the family tree correctly most of the Bhuttos were killed by Gen. Zia or eachother.

The Father Bhutto was hanged in Zia's era and sons were killed by relatives (may be some family feud), the daughter bhutto was murdered (nobody knows who the beneficiary of that murder is)

Anyways all of Bhuttos died and their bodies may have perished ....... but the Jiyala (followers) still believe that father Bhutto is alive and hence "Bhutto kal b zinda tha bhutto ajj b zinda hay" .......... the party (PPP) already has this tradition of dead alive so I don't feel another addition to that dead alive would matter?

The real threat to nawazsharif is now Zerdari because Uzair has confessed that his "chota" killed Benazir. Now the days of Nawazsharif are limited as prime minister.
