Since the end of the Cold War, the US has been the world's unquestioned dominant military power.

Though defense spending has been shrinking since its high in 2010, the US' budget in 2014 still surpassed the combined expenditures of China, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, India, and South Korea.

The military budget of China, the world's second-largest military spender, was still only 22% of the US' in 2014.

This enormous budget allows the US to field the most cutting-edge hardware while investing in future technologies. The following graphic from the University of Texas at El Paso Connect highlights some of the US' defense capabilities — and the massive price tag that comes along with them.

USA is a martial nation (like Pakistan is).

Martial nations do spend more money on defense than non-martial nations.

Having said that, US defense spending goes towards research, development, and manufacture WITHIN USA.

So in some ways think about US defense sector as perhaps very very very large (if not the largest) employment sector of USA.

USA is focussed on ALL the three components of Military power

1 Economy
2 Technological strength and capabilities
3 Military strength ie hardware

Pakistan cares only about Military equipment and hardware

Study by yourself. Study fauj (military) history of different regions for the last 500 years and you will know which are consistently running campaigns. Results may be wins or losses. But they are constantly at it.

yeap. ALL around the world, wars were dominated by a subset of regions. Not all regions contributed at the same level. .

Computer geeks will spend more of their budget on techi stuff
compared non-techies.
