A 75-year-old Vietnam veteran was seen on video getting pepper-sprayed in the face as he stood in front of a line of armed law enforcement in camouflage gear during protests in Portland, Oregon.

The video, posted by an independent journalist to Twitter on Sunday, shows Mike Hastie holding his camera and speaking to the officers about his experience at war, saying loudly he was a Vietnam veteran and combat medic. As he's shouting at them, a group of armed officers are seen walking by him and one of them sprays Hastie directly in the face while up close to him as others push him out of the way, telling him to back up.

Hastie said he approached the officers, who he believed to be deployed by the federal government, because he wanted to tell them about the "horrifying" things American soldiers were tasked with while abroad that he says people don't know about.

"I stood next to a ditch in Vietnam, and we murdered 170 Vietnamese people", he yelled.

The Western World often times employs the theory of Just and Unjust War and twists it to suit their own need(s). Like I've stated many times in the past, the fault is on us Asians or South Asians who invite these outsiders into our sphere of influence and let them go unchecked. The other issue we then tend to not support our regional powers and grow with them and rather fight against them using the same individuals who 1st came and destroyed our lands.

Yes there was a lot of collateral damage done towards civilians. But the Viet Cong guerrillas were virtually impossible to distinguish from ordinary civilians, which is why there were unnecessarily high casualties for the Vietnamese civilians. If it was some other power that was invading, say the Soviet Union, Japan, or China, I can guarantee you they would probably shoot indiscriminately and destroy entire villages upon reports of guerillas. Had the US destroyed every suspected VC village, the Army probably would've suffered considerably less casualties and achieved their results quicker. As much of an unpopular opinion here, the US military has consistently demonstrated the highest standard of treatment of POWs and generally tries not to kill civilians.
