"Syria is ready to cooperate and coordinate with regional and international efforts to combat terror in accordance with U.N. resolutions and respect of Syrian sovereignty," Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem told a press conference in Damascus.

"Everyone is welcome, including Britain and the United States, to take action against ISIS and Nusra with a prior full coordination with the Syrian government," al-Moallem continued.

The foreign minister warned that any action taken without direct agreement from Damascus would be an "aggression" against Syrian territory and that Syria would not stay idle.

The Obama administration has been hinting about Syrian intervention since ISIS carried out what American officials called its first "terrorist attack" against the U.S., referring to the killing of American journalist James Foley. On Sunday, Joint Chiefs chair Martin Dempsey indicated the Pentagon was ready for a broader intervention against the militant group if they threaten the U.S. homeland.

More: Syria welcomes U.S. strikes against ISIS there, with conditions

R.I.P Syrian opposition groups, the last three years of crocodile tears for wanting Western weapons but nothing.

You've done a good job the so called rebels so now it's time for you to join either the Syrian army if you want Western support or ISIS if you want ISIS support. A fair deal :)

. .
And now the US gets a couple more years to interfere and meddle in the Middle East.
I hate going tinfoil, but this ISIS thing has given the US the perfect opportunity to continue their campaign.

.
Dont trust the Americans, they may strike at IS in Syria but they'll find ways of trying to arm Nusra front and other terrorists. Why do you think Nursa released that American hostage just yesterday? Civil war in Syria is the interest of Israeli and American hawks. The Obama admin will cave into their pressure as it has done before.

They dont care about a tinpot regime like the Syrian Ba'athists.

. . . .
us will eat syria from.within,.after isis is finished.

.
Syria will not trust the US, but using them to eliminate the ISIS terrorists first.

.
Turkey will be the big loser in this case as their attempts to grab land from Syria will have failed

. .
They created, funded and trained al-nusra and the syrian rebels. Now they want to fight them?

This is beyond me :D

Me myself im in shocked about how foolish/short sighted our foreign policy can be at times.
Except maybe they have an interests in destabilising the region. Depends on which angle we look at it i presume.:D

Temporary alliance, aka saddam 2.0.

This whole Syria thing is getting wierder

Not really, it's just that this complication is not behind the scenes like most International Relations.

Turkey will be the big loser in this case as their attempts to grab land from Syria will have failed

Turkey has not territorial dispute with Syria over land Syria controls. Only Syria has dispute over land Turkey controls, the Hatay Province.

Looks like an attempt at destabilization Iraq will most probably go 3 different ways
