WASHINGTON - The US will continue to launch drone strikes against militant sanctuaries in Pakistan even if that nation’s government keeps opposing them, Defence Secretary Leon Panetta said.
While Panetta declined to be more specific when asked about the unmanned vehicles because they “remain covert operations,” he said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s ‘‘Conversations with Judy Woodruff’’ airing later this week, “The United States was attacked on 9/11, and we know who attacked us.” ‘‘We know that Al-Qaeda was behind it,” Panetta said. “And we are going to do everything we can, use whatever operations we have to, in order to make sure that we protect this country and make sure that that kind of attack never happens again.’’
Told that sounded as if he meant drone attacks will continue, Panetta said simply, “The United States is going to defend itself under any circumstances.”
Drone attacks against sanctuaries of the Taliban and other groups in Pakistan are carried out by the Central Intelligence Agency, which Panetta previously headed. Pakistan has opposed the strikes, saying they violate nation’s sovereignty.

I think it is because of economic compulsion they are not able to take stand against Drones. But I don't understand why they take it to international court or UN.

To be honest we dun need american goodies if they come at such price..Our main rival india is under our toes since we did nuclear blasts and got her covered with our ballistic missiles and she ll now never dare of any misadventure...But we should never let america damage taliban to an extent where they cant gain control after 2014 though its highly unlikely as american were unable to complete this task in a decade how can they do it in 2 years but still we should be clear headed and should destroy 1 or 2 drones indirectly blamin them in talibans manpads and get rid of these drones...

"American goodies" are always with strings attached that on occassions are simply too much and i agree they are not needed. As far as our neighbors are concerned - the last i heard they only had 2 days ammunition left if war was to break out, so i think we would be in a comfortable position to defend our lands.

Even loudspeakers won't work because somebody in the government has been handsomely paid for such freedom of action for the US. As long as PPP and Kayani are in power the drone strikes will continue.
