Why do folks do that, Urdu is awesome monsieur/janab eli! does it not feel great to be in sync with your heritage/culture and that something you cannot achieve with english in my humble opinion.

For 93% Pakistanis Urdu is a foreign language too.
I meant to say that it makes you feel complete, may have come off wrong!
hmmm, I am not sure either about that as urdu or hindi is a flexible langue and it can accumalate different words, specially for farsi langue so I am no sure about that and it is the national lingua franca there based on what my fellow pakistan brothers say on this forum. Also isn't hindi also lingua franca in inde too as most of the teachers are from Luck Now or Hyder-abad! ahaha once I get good at urdu, i will able to speak to nearly 500 million people muahahaha fear me !
Yes Hindi / Urdu and dialects make up the mother-tongue of about 40% Indians and 7% Pakistanis.
Urdu is the national language of Pakistan, India does not have a national language.
On a side question, while it may not be mother tongue most people can understand it atleast more pakistan posters and alot of inde posters can too on this forum in roman alphabets, so does that hold true in real life as far as people being able to understand urdu/hindi in different parts of your country! I find the bollywood movies to be very similar to urdu so it is great for learning words though sadly I do find it interesting aside from the 1917 adaptation called Dhava das(favorite and only movie I watch)!

For 93% Pakistanis Urdu is a foreign language too. Essentially culture is what you adopt, heritage is what you like to accept. It could be english too.
wow what an exact figure.. urdu is the language which is made out of different languages which are turkish ,farsi and hindi .. how come its a foreign language.. have u seen somebody speaking urdu apart from pakistan and yes in bollywood movies. i know this will hurt u indians v much but the true fact is bollywood movies are hindi movies by name while the language that they speak is urdu..i can give u a lot of examples.. on the other hand the pure urdu is very difficult as every othe rpure language is v difficult . even a person from iran can not speak pure persian ..can u speak pure hindi?i m pretty sure not ..urdu is our national language and its not a foreign language as concluded by some indian who is sitting somewhere in bihar.. urdu is even understood by afghans and some iranians and omanis and indians and bangladeshis.. the reason is becuase pakistan was the area where all these people first came bfr entering into india thus giving rise to a new language which was called urdu.. so stop spewing bs

Main component in Urdu is the Khariboli dialect, only a North Indian can pronounce the words properly. A Turk or a Persian can't understand Urdu.
