US states pass Racial based Academic goals

The Florida State Board of Education passed a plan that sets goals for students in math and reading based upon their race.

On Tuesday, the board passed a revised strategic plan that says that by 2018, it wants 90 percent of Asian students, 88 percent of white students, 81 percent of Hispanics and 74 percent of black students to be reading at or above grade level. For math, the goals are 92 percent of Asian kids to be proficient, whites at 86 percent, Hispanics at 80 percent and blacks at 74 percent. It also measures by other groupings, such as poverty and disabilities, reported the Palm Beach Post.

The plan has infuriated many community activists in Palm Beach County and across the state.

“To expect less from one demographic and more from another is just a little off-base,” Juan Lopez, magnet coordinator at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Riviera Beach, told the Palm Beach Post.

JFK Middle has a black student population of about 88 percent.

You obviously have never been to the Middle east or Japan. Try going there and see how a White person would be treated differently than an Indian.

Different goups have different cultures. Asians and Jews typically have strong parental support, and parents to tell them to focus on studies. Blacks typically dont, and their culture is very different.

Yeah I know Korea and Japan being homogeneous can be quite racist, and some places in Japan dont even allow foreigners whatever color they may be. Middle east....maybe cuz we are not muslims? Not sure.

it's not racism. It's based on things like household income, population, residency, socio ecnomic status etc etc etc.

poor neighborhoods have poor chances of higher graduation rate or 2 parent families or economic certainty and many such things that lend to a child doing well in School.

actually stupid reasoning not rule as you have put it. It's not about black culture. Everyone loves their kids to succeed. A religious group may have cultural issues not a race.

Japan is quite Facist but Koreans are open minded by Asian standered.

I did get that the first time itself. But what I meant to say was, that like in India we keep the caste system alive, through reservations and quota systems, in the US they keep this bogus concept of race alive, by making such laws. When stuff like race is kept alive by such laws racism remains in culture and society is what I wanted to say. Same with India with its stupid caste system.

I lived in Nairobi kenya, Black African parents are strict by European standereds but lack financial resources. Village kids can solve Math problems on top of their heads. Thats why African diaspra in N. America are the largest academic qualifying community per capita, just ahead of Asians. It sad to see their reputation trashed by Afro American Ghetto culture. Just about every bad sterotype you get black come from Black americans. I asked a Kenyan dude on his opnion of Afro American and he hates them to the guts..

In India you don't keep the caste system alive, you simply recognize that till their situation improves , a poor socio income child studying in hut , with little to no electricity scoring a 90% vs. a private school kid scoring 95% means 90% gets a chance ...

Haha they do that to other asians like Han, viet etc. Thats why they like mongols and Turkic tribes because they adore altaic Looks. But they have no probs with South Asians, white black etc.

Yeah but socio economic status doesnt need the caste system is what I meant. Many of my friends from the SC community are in the US after doing their PHDs from prestigious universities. But they qualify for quotas.

Many Brahmins are on the other hand poor that they cant afford stuff, yet they have to work really hard. Am not against affirmative action but I guess it should be based on socio economic status, not based on caste or race for that matter.
