The security assistance to Pakistan that was suspended by the previous Trump administration remains to be the same, the Pentagon said on Monday as Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke to Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and US National Security Advisor Jek Sullivan met his Pakistani counterpart in Geneva.

"At this time, the US security assistance to Pakistan is still suspended. I will not get into speculating one way or another about if or whether that will change going forward," Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told reporters at a news conference.

He was responding to a question on if the new Biden administration has reviewed the policy in this regard of the previous Trump administration and if there are any changes in it or was this issue on the table during talks with the Pakistani leadership.

Former US president Donald Trump, in January 2018, had suspended all security assistance to Pakistan, arguing that he was not satisfied with the latter's cooperation and role in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier in the day, Austin spoke with General Bajwa to discuss shared regional interests and objectives, Kirby said.

"During the call, the secretary reiterated his appreciation for Pakistan's support to the Afghanistan peace negotiations and expressed his desire to continue to build on the United States-Pakistan bilateral relationship," he said.

"I reiterated my appreciation for the US-Pakistan relationship and my desire to continue to work together to further regional security and stability," Austin said in a tweet.

A day earlier, Sullivan met his Pakistani counterpart Moeed Yusuf in Geneva.

"Both sides discussed a range of bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest, and ways to advance practical cooperation. They agreed to continue with the conversation," spokesperson of the National Security Council Emily Horne said.

Worth noting that Pakistan's Foreign Office has said that we are not giving America any military or airforce base in Pakistan.

Poor sources cited. No wonder if they are being run by the propaganda mills of India.

The day Pakistan signed CPEC, Pakistani bases for US forces was dismantle. This was one of the major condition put up by China. In 2001, there were no Chinese presence so Pakistan did provide US drones, and airforce bases but things got changed after 2014.

This is failure of Pakistan's leadership, both military and political.

More so of the military. Despite Americans denying them assistance for the work already rendered and any technological and hardware supply. Pakistani generals have to look themselves in the mirror and ask themselves, why Pakistan is still allowing air and land corridors to the Yanks!!

Like I said, Musharaf laid down after a phone call. But for Bajwa even the telephone call and threats are not worth bothering. He is doing the needful without asking or paid for it.

Where would USA find mugs like this!!!
Only in Pakistan.

Our leadership are mental slaves. Pakistan should have suspended ALOC and GLOC deals the day they suspended security assistance. Both our civil and military leadership are cowards.
Because all your politicians, bureaucracy after retirement lives in West.. there " maal mawashi" in West. They will never make any decision which goes against them ...

Our leadership are mental slaves. Pakistan should have suspended ALOC and GLOC deals the day they suspended security assistance. Both our civil and military leadership are cowards.

What's so disgusting about all this is that this was one of Khan's main selling points and really nothing has been done about this since.

When the PTI was running in opposition they were holding Dharna's against GLOC and ALOC acively blocking those roues:

After the attack at Salala where Pakistani soldiers were murdered in cold blood by ruthless American terrorists what did the Government do? Stopped GLOC for 6 months, never touched ALOC.

Where was the military leadership? They're there to help scuttle a corrupt piece of trash like Musharraf out of the country but not for the soldiers fighting on the front lines.

What cowards and losers these people are.

Those brave patriots that waved the PTI flag came out for days to stop this prostitution of our nation, is people and dignity by the government and military leadership the same ones that assist a corrupt criminal piece of sh*t like Musharraf escape justice.

Khan never stopped any of this.

I'm sure there will be explanations for why we didn't and in truth I get that Khan was faced with a horrible situation left behind by Nawaz Sharif but the current government needs to make it clear once and for all that GLOC and ALOC are gone with the withdrawal.

As for the military and civilian government leadership we know why these people do what they do, none of them are dedicated to Pakistan. They retire in the West after a long career of selling Pakistan, its interests and people out to the kafir and gora pigs.
