US reportedly planning tariffs on remaining $257 billion in Chinese goods if Trump-Xi talks fail

The United States is preparing new tariffs against all remaining Chinese imports if trade talks between Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping fail to reconcile the ongoing trade dispute, according to Bloomberg News.

An announcement of new taxes against goods from China could occur as early as December and target the rest of the imports from the Asian nation that are not already subject to tariffs. The total would amount to about $257 billion worth, according to the Bloomberg report.

The new tariffs and raising of the tariffs already introduced are going to happen unless the key issues driving this trade dispute are addressed, alleged unfair trade practices and illicit appropriation of technology (by one party in this dispute).

Nothing has been mentioned yet about these issues (from the party allegedly responsible), at least publicly. There hasn't even been any admission these issues exist, nor is it likely there will be.

This trade dispute is going to escalate with neither side willing to blink. And that's not good news for anybody.

It is very difficult to bridge the trade deficit between China and US unless people of US is ready to work in a wage that is comparable to global standard...Mr President can try to get the tariff on US, but China may eventually react by aligning all the developing nations within its fold and create alternate trading system which will not be helpful for US in long run...

Shooting war is good for US gun sellers, thats what they want.

If it kicks off, a US-China war will almost certainly start in the South China sea causing major disruptions to global trade and markets. It will affect everybody.

then CN will have to face wt not only USAN but also Russia navy as Russia cargo ships also need to pass throught SCS( east VN sea) to trade wt ASEAN region.
