US ready to supply UAV ScanEagle to Pakistan: official

By Sajjad Malik

ISLAMABAD: The US is ready to provide the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ScanEagle to Pakistan to improve its reconnaissance capacity, US Under Secretary of Defence Michele Flournoy said on Tuesday.

Flournoy was talking to reporters at the end of her two-day visit to Pakistan.

The under secretary’s comments came ahead of an offer by US Defence Secretary Robert Gates, who earlier announced to provide the UAV Shadow, drawing criticism from local media who said the technology was obsolete.

Flournoy said the US wanted to build a strategic partnership with Pakistan and discussed ways to develop new relations. She said the US was offering support to Pakistan in various sectors to help it overcome its problems.

She acknowledged the existence of a trust deficit between the two countries, but hoped the two sides would succeed in bridging gaps by working closely.

“Our action will
speak louder than words
and by helping Pakistan
and its people, we will be able to overcome the anti-American sentiments here. But it will take some time,” she added.

The under secretary said the US was providing F-16 aircraft to Pakistan and had set up the Counterinsurgency Capacity Building Fund worth $1 billion for the country. She said the US had also provided over $7 billion from the Coalition Support Fund to the country since the war on terror began in 2001.

She said the release of more aid under the fund had been delayed owing to delay in issuance of visas to the US embassy staff, adding that the funds would be provided once this issue was resolved.

Are these UAVs better than the shadow drones they offered previously;12 of the shadow drones were offered to Pakistan i have read somewhere a month ago;are these scan eagle UAV additional to them.Any package details?
but why the americans r not forwarding any of their front liner predator and global hawk drones.

it think that is more required than this for your war against terror
Yeah i agree predators are the machines that are required.:pakistan:

.
I am sure we are making our own versions of drones like the predator. Maybe a tad bit low in technology but i'm confident it will be able to get the job done just as good.

SCAN EAGLE is a good UAV system with a very high endurance and excellent capability to fly both on land and on sea. USN has been using this UAV for surveillance against Somali pirates and recently Australian Navy has also purchased this UAV system for its surveillance needs.

I think that Pakistan should indeed move to buy this UAV system under FMS program and then hand it over to the Army and the Navy while at the same time continuing its demand for the UCAV, Reaper or Predator.

.
Don't know about it's capabilities but they seem to be toys.Seriously.

They are even smaller than those shadows.

But Then i guess US is not sincere in building relationships.Cause if they were they would had given us reaper long ago.

. . .
dear for your kind information , they are actively present in afghanistan and iraq. both these countries are american allies

In ******* ka Ehsan lene ki zaroorat hi nahi. Slap on their face and insert these drones up in their A$$e$.

Pakistan is capable of producing these machines ourself. Rather gun some of the flying drones down and reverse engineer them. Also send couple of them to Chinese friends with labels "With Love from Friends" on them ;)
