The United States today announced a proposed list of products imported from China that could be subject to additional tariffs of 25 per cent amounting to USD 50 billion. The US Trade Representative (USTR) said the proposed list of products is based on extensive interagency economic analysis and would target products that benefit from China’s industrial plans while minimizing the impact on the US economy. Sectors subject to the proposed tariffs include industries such as aerospace, information and communication technology, robotics, and machinery. The list covers approximately 1,300 separate tariff lines and will undergo further review in a public notice and comment process, including a hearing. After completion of this process, the USTR will issue a final determination on the products subject to the additional duties. The total value of imports subject to the tariff increase is commensurate with an economic analysis of the harm caused by China’s unreasonable technology transfer policies to the US economy, the USTR said.

Pretty bad idea. Actually, really bad idea. Trump is basically itching for a trade war. It doesn't take a genius to understand that a trade war won't end well for the United States. But not surprising for an ignorant president obsessed with the trade deficit. China responded to the US steel and aluminium tariffs with a 25% tariff on 3 billion dollars worth of US goods. Let's see how it responds to a 50 billion tariff ...

3 billion dollar tariffs to Trump's STEEL AND ALUMINUM TARIFFS. Not to the latest 50 billion dollar IP tariff. China readied the 3 billion dollar tariff before Trump even announced the latest IP tariff ... besides, the steel/aluminum tariff probably costs China just a couple billion dollars, which is why they reciprocate with only 3B.

Trump is just a face and mouthpiece of a gang of Oligarchs who run the USA. This trade war is a well calculated gamble to shore up indigenous support and increase the stranglehold on the internal system and leverage and weaken China in whatever they can.

When would that taxiffs take effect?

He's an Indian, don't expect too much of their intelligence. If he had read the other related threads he should have known by now that China has stronger cards up his sleeves
