Addressing a town hall event at the Siri Fort auditorium today on the third and final day of his visit to India, US President Barack Obama made a strong pitch for religious tolerance here – PM Narendra Modi was not a part of the event.
Barack Obama said every person has the right to practice his faith without any persecution and that India will succeed so long it is not “splintered” on religious lines. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliates have been in the news recently over Muslim, Christian conversions in India that has not been condemned by PM Narendra Modi in public.
India will succeed so long it is not splintered on religious lines, said Barack Obama.
We have to guard against any efforts to divide us on sectarian lines or any other thing, Obama added.
