Turkey is capable of developing a system compareable to S-400 but it is decade away from building a F-35 style system.

Turkish companies are still producing parts for F-35s....

Only the US is currently capable of programming the MDL and ALIS for all F-35s




and 100 F-35A price+equipments+maintenance for 30 years = $40 billion

better to spend $40 billion for developing indigenous military projects

For once I agree with you. F-35 is a highly control weapon who user besides american, has no control over it. Those who think once u get your hands on it and you having full autonomous over it, will be very disappointed.

You know,smart Turks admit it was a bad decision. I've seen many of others though comment on youtube,that they should now buy Su-35s and Su-57s. That reminds me of some greeks saying we should be buying Su-35s,Su-30s and Mig-29s. It's ridiculous!

The S-400 deal was probably forced by Putin,if they were making Hisar and if Hisar was so darn good,then why by S-400s?
But the irony is that from 2012 the Turks on the internet had been bragging "Haha we have Altay and F-35,soon we get S-400 bye-bye poor Greece I am buying you for 1 Euro..."

And now look where they are: They can't produce the Altay,they have been kicked out of the F-35 program,they bought the S-400s to keep them turned off and while we are getting out of an economic crisis,their economy is going down.
For years I kept reading stuff like "Haha F-16 and F-35...bye-bye Grece from Aegean Sea"
They started stockpiling spare parts in case of a U.S. embargo on them,they've hundreds of pilots and officers sacked after 2014 and aren't getting any F-35s.
On the contrary,we are getting 18 Rafale,upgrading 84 F-16s to F-16V and the rest to F-16 Block 52 and Block 52+ and we have been offered F-35s. Which of course we can't get now,unless the Americans pay for everything.

i will choose f35 over s500 too . f-35 is fighter jet you can use it next 50 years for multi-role air ops while s500 only job is to shot down flying object . turkey make a big blunder here .

The problem is the Turks didn't have a long-rage AA system for decades. Their best AA system was HAWK XX,which was something weird because we had so many AA weapons. Maybe they were thinking of the depth of land or something. We were left behind in the navy and they were left behind on that.
And what good is buying S-400s if you can't even use them because of political reasons? Now I hear they wanna buy a new batch...
