I thought the almighty US could demolish any country without breaking a sweat. Why put so much effort into hacking and disabling the missile systems? Where has the invincibility part gone?

Exploding Iran is too big a fish to fry.

They trying to implode it - at least for the moment.

  • The cyber strike came days after the Iranian forces reportedly shot down an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone.
  • While the operation was said to cripple Iranian military command and control systems, it did not involve loss of life.
  • In April, the United States designated the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization.

President Donald Trump reportedly approved a cyber strike that disabled Iranian computer systems, after the country shot down an unmanned U.S. surveillance drone, according to a new report in Washington Post. The systems were used to control rocket and missile launches.

The strike, carried out against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, was launched Thursday but had been in the works for some time, according to the Post, which also noted that the Pentagon proposed launching the assault earlier this month after Iran's alleged attacks on two U.S. oil tankers.

The operation was said to cripple Iranian military command and control systems but did not involve loss of life. It was the first offensive show of force since the U.S. Cyber Command, part of the U.S. Department of Defense, was elevated to a full combatant command in May.

I assume that the Iranian computers have no internet connection. So, how are they attacking the Iranian computers exactly? Do they use spies to infiltrate the Iranian IT?

Nothing to see here.

Theatrics and nothing more.

The USA doesn't 'back off' when it decides to invade and wage war on a country.

The Iranians are lucky in a sense that the Crazy Iranian Mullah Regime plays its role perfectly and does everything needs to be done to advance the interests of the powers that be.

In a few years the Arabs will spend another $100+ billion to buy more weapons.

One really should call into question the efficacy of any American "counter-attack" especially now since Trump is in full face saving mode. Not saying the U.S. didn't attempt to do this, to the effective of which I can't say and Iran most definitely will not say for obvious reasons.

But I'd like to imagine Irans AD systems run on proprietary software that would need a guy on the ground to infect from within. So, as from my stand point, this is most likely more than just a "cyber-attack".

we do not know as military is very cautious about internet connection on there missiles and systems and the article dose not say if the operation was a success or not.

Multiple times users on this board have noticed Windows OS on Iranian systems including naval ships like Mowj.

Building your own secure OS is not that easy.

Fair enough, this is something I previously didn't know.

....really?

Here is Iran’s AD center clearly using Windows OS and not even the latest version.
