On topic, it is US continuing with its carrot and stick policy and it is us who are to be blamed for making a fool out of our self. I understand why we deem F16 so important and why it will still be great to get them but surely we should have started working on alternatives some years ago. JF17 is one possible solution but will need to get it up a notch to fill in for that 4+ gen role that we will be looking for in coming years.

I just hope we change how we handle our affairs and change for good.

This is not true at all. Members of House of Representatives are up for elections every two years and so are one-third of US Senators. The primary battles among the various presidential candidates have overshadowed these Congressional elections.

So Americans want us to act against Haqqanis. Well, they are based in Afghanistan, are they suggesting we send our forces inside Afghanistan. We can do that but then we have to occupy Afghanistan and for that Americans needs to pay the bill.

I do not understand when Pakistan will realize, the impact on the country of this aid. This is more than enough already.
See the history of Pakistan & USA relations and the only conclusion one come up with is, USA always used Pakistan when needed and waved to say good bye when once their need is fullfiled.

Pakistan is nation, not a product where you barter and give Pakistan money and ask for going after Haqqanis and releasing Shakil Afridi.

And I'm sure this time again Pakistan will accept this deal. Ugh'

Deja vu, it's the 90's all over again.
Pakistan really needs to rethink our US policy, get over with this painful divorce.

Here's a few things we should do:

1- Step out of US' WoT, make it official.

2- Close and deny NATO transit routes.

3- Downgrade diplomatic ties with the US and close one of its biggest embassies in the world in Islamabad. A single consulate will do.

4- Open a media war, highlight the US' betrayal and the damages we have suffered since joining hands in WoT (at gun point)

5- Deport 3+ million Afghan refugees and fence that damn border at hotspots.

6- Grant access to China to Gawadar and make it a nuclear naval base.

7- Enhance our ties with China, Russia and Iran.

About Time We Put Our Foot Down And Start Doing This

They are already doomed; and moving very fast towards being a failed state and you are encouraging them to further gamble. I don't think you are a well wisher.

Moreover it's our tax money and we ought to give them run for the money.

Though bit off topic, the furthest ancient Indus settlement found from heartland both in east, west and northwest towards central Asia, the land between, thats what Greater Pakistan is in true essence. Afghanistan is just a very small portion of land mass.
