The US Embassy in India has warned of possible "imminent attacks" by militants in the capital, Delhi, and advised US citizens to be vigilant.

"There are increased indications that terrorists are planning imminent attacks in New Delhi," said a statement on the embassy's website.

It urged people to avoid several locations popular with Westerners.

Militants linked to Pakistan-based Islamist groups have been blamed for previous attacks in the city.

The advisory, which steps up a warning issued last month, said that popular shopping areas such as Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, should be avoided.

It said US citizens travelling or living in India should maintain "a high level of vigilance", and be aware of their surroundings or any unattended packages.

This is going to further complicate the region as it is. The last time a terrorist attack happened in Mumbai, entire Indian community (small one here) even here in Switzerland was up-in-arms with anger. I wonder what would the Indians living in India be considering if another Mumbai sort of attack happens.

I believe Washington won't be able to silence Delhi this time if it happens and there is bound to be some sort of military action from their side. It happens all over the world from South America till Asia and Oceania. I don't know about how Indian political structure works but considering the disappointment that India's generals got two years back, they would be itching for a military solution in the event should another such attack happen (Heavens Forbid).

If at all Mr. Obama intervenes with the attack this time as well, it would only embitter the recently developed good relations between United States and the Indians.

Instead of coming here and threatening us, would be better you ask your interior minister and intelligence agencies, that how come these non state actors come inside India even with thousands of KMs of fenced, electrified, patrolled border, and lets suppose even if they get across the border, how come they travel so much deep into India without being caught and who provides them with weapons and accommodation and gives them the directions, rather not directions but take them in Indian made cars to their targets and give all the support.

If you ponder thoroughly, it may reveal to you that there are your own Indian non state actors stationed there, who provide all these resources and welcome such non state actors to do their dirty things.

So instead of coming here and showing us the attitude, go and correct whatever is wrong in your own country.

thats exaclty what the militants want...a militry action between india and pakistan...they know very well that India somehow managed to control its anger over the mumbai attack issue and another attack would make sure India takes action.

No business for Obama..its the Indians get killed not the americans..just one 9/11 attack took place and the americans are carrying on their BS action in Iraq and afghanistan for several years..we indians have faced the attacks more than the US..more people killed in india than in US...no one wants a BS relation with US who keeps different policies for different countries.

But our intelligence also has to take the blame. When one says, we need to be better equipped to combat terror, it does not mean better weapons or anti terror squads alone.
A sound intelligence is a must to combat the terror threat, which has time an again miserably failed in India's case.

And all of us who talk that a military solution needs to be adopted, wake up, its nt going to happen. We can never be the aggressor in indo pak war. The reason being simple, Pakistan does not have a "no 1st use" policy unlike India. Its will be too much a risk to take. All the disparity in military might, is of no use in this scenario.
That is why I feel we adopt a china centric defence policy, which also has a no first use policy for nukes.

Read the post of your own's before Asim's, who is talking about a military action. Asim replied as to what was said.

Its common sense, India attacks Pakistan, Pakistan is not gonna sit idle and let India keep sending its missiles. A reply is must and would happen.

Concentrate on the part where i said, intelligence should be made strong and India should act against the ones who are helping and supporting the ones on this side of the border, without the ones on the Indian side, the ones on this side of the border will never succeed in even killing one innocent nor a 26/11 kind of tragedy will ever happen.
