A compromise measure totaling USD 632.8 billion was reached on by the Senate members of the Armed Services Committee and the House Armed Services Committee of the US congress.
The deal on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2014 comes days after tough negotiations between the committees.

The budget includes funds for military pay, ships and planes and for overseas operation such as the war in Afghanistan.

The USD 6.2 billion of the budget is allocated for Afghan forces, providing Afghan security forces the capabilities needed to take full security responsibility by December 2014.

The NDAA-2014 also requires that USD 25 million be used towards training, recruiting and integration women in Afghan security forces.

An amount of USD 250 million is earmarked for enhancing the Afghanistan Infrastructure Fund, which support irrigation, road, electrification and other major infra projects that would help support the counterinsurgency campaign and protect American troops.

@Sher Malang, this deal will obviously be dependent on the US-Afghan security pact getting signed right?

What's the reason for the hold up? why is Karzai dragging it?

The deal will be signed sooner or later.Karzai has some demands, such as US soldiers will not be allowed to enter Afghan homes under any condition.

Karzai says that the deal should be signed by the next president after the 2014 spring election, while the Americans wants the deal signed before February, so it a question of months.

The issue isn't that big, but both parts wants to be seen strong, and therefore dragging out the signing
