The Army has rebranded its road-mobile, ship-killing weapon system "Strategic Mid-Range Fires" and is seeking $404 million in fiscal year 2023 to complete integration of a sea-based launcher on a truck to arm ground forces by next year with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Standard Missile-6. Previously called Mid-Range Capability, the project has a new budget program element in the Army's FY-23 budget submission, which in prior years was funded under a now-defunct line called Mobile Medium Range Missile. Chinese ship sinking capability? How desperate is the US army for budget?

Yawn

Typhon missile system armed with Tomahawks. It can already field the SM-6 anti air/anti ship missile and eventually the 1,000 mile Tomahawk Block V Maritime Strike Missile.

Gerald R ford can sink hslh of Chinese navy. A Russian expert had said that China will loose 40 pc of its navy to sink one US aircraft carrier. The article is here on PDF.
Clearly Russian analysts should have been thinking more about Ukraine and less about the PLA.

You must be new then if you never heard of the Guam killer missiles.

I'm already reading that they could try to get the missile up to 1000km range.

The Army is setting up 5 layers of long range precision fires:

1- Long Range Hypersonic Weapon Dark Eagle

2- Typhon with Tomahawk and SM-6 missiles

3- Precision Strike Missile

4- GMLRS-Extended Range Rockets

5- M1299 Extended Range Self Propelled Artillery

US can not afford to leg behind. They are on. India is going relatively faster. China is hyping their capabilities as usual.

A lot of hot air blowing around lately.

Yet the US feels so inscure, being 5000 km away from China.

:sarcastic: :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

I worry about US, by 2040 it would be a shadow of what it is now. It's days of being top dog is numbered. Just look at the Arleigh Burke / Ticonderoga ships. They are old, rusty compared to 055/052D. US has lost it's manufacturing capacity long back, they are in no position to compete against China, specially near Taiwan.
