Car engine is very mature tech today. Reliability is not a issue for today's engine technology. Main stream Chinese auto companies all use their own engines, a lot of their engines have the latest technology, with superb fuel economy and performance. I have a thread here which I have to finish yet about Chinese car engines (traditional internal combustion engine):

Quality is terible, and only use CN car in abt 3 years. Thats why u cant sell CN used car/truck . No CN used truck market world wide so far.

And CN car tech can not meet Euro 6 standard too due to low tech.
