Ballia: A 21-year-old youth allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl and filmed the act on his mobile phone in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Later, he used the video to blackmail the teenage survivor into having a sexual relationship with him. Shockingly, when his father learned about it, he allegedly told the girl’s father that either his son or he himself would solemnize marriage with her after her religious conversion.
How it happened
According to the police, on January 11, when the teenage girl was alone in the house, the accused, identified as Abdul Rehman alias Golu, barged in and raped her. The accused also recorded a video of the heinous act and used it to blackmail her for a sexual relationship with him. The affected girl mustered courage and narrated her ordeal before her family on January 13.
The teenage survivor’s father, after learning about the incident, went to the accused youth’s house and requested his father, identified as Kalim, to tell his son to delete the video of the alleged sexual assault. The youth’s father, instead of taking action against his son or asking him to delete the video, advised the survivor’s father to make her denounce her faith and adopt their religion and said that thereafter, either his son or he himself would marry her, according to a report by The Times of India.

Following this, the teenager’s father lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Golu and his father under sections 376 (rape), 452 (house-trespass) of the Indian Penal Code, and Sections 3 and 5 (1) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance, 2020. Relevant charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been included in the FIR as the girl is a minor. The accused were arrested on Tuesday, a police officer said, adding that investigation into the case is underway.
