Unprovoked Indian firing injures two Kashmiri children

ISLAMABAD: Two children were wounded in “unprovoked firing” by Indian forces across the Line of Control, Pakistani officials said on Tuesday.
Officials said the shooting, in the Battal sector of Pakistani Kashmir, known as Azad Kashmir, took place on Monday evening, just days after the neighbours held their first official talks in more than year.

“An innocent boy and a girl were seriously injured due to unprovoked firing by Indian troops across the Line of Control,” a military official said.

“Pakistani troops responded effectively,” he said without giving details.

There has been a spate of clashes in the past few months along the Line of Control and on the border to the south but they are not expected to spark a broader conflict. —Reuters

Really unfortunate. My sympathies for the children. Hope they recover soon.

Really unfortunate...wat was these kids doing at LOC ?

. . .
Obviously the Indian army had fire on to villages on LoC.

There are many villages indeed with population.

I regularly view Pakistan news in the online editions for long time and the cross border firings never get reported, do you know why, because this is the first time some one got hurt whom Pakistani newspapers care for.

But the incident was unfortunate and I believe that both armies must desist from cross border firings as per the peace treaty signed.

I think you are not updated since long otherwise you would have seen the news reports.

And for your information its not the first time that Childern or anyone had wounder in Pakistan due to Indian army firing in Azad Kashmir.

In the past many people died including a woman due to Indian firing. And all of them were common civilian Kashmiris

Perhaps they mistook as intruders from distance. But very unfortunate thing specially when children get injured.

Jana, I am sure you'd be angry and I would be too if I were in your place. But I don't think anybody would shoot at unarmed villagers. I think they might have been crossed in a crossfire with the Rangers.

Intruders do have some brain if you dont have any in this case, they do not cross in daylight openly.

I didn't mean that they were intruders. I just meant that may be they were caught in a crossfire. Thats all.

And lets keep it civilized Jana. Don't wana pass out any personal comments.

I don't get it, how could you even mistook kids from a distance, I mean, I am sure they can differentiate between a person shooting or not right? And even if it was really a mistake, why did they launch cross-border firing in the first place, and according to the article, let's take the basis as an unprovoked firing?

Ameer, as I was saying to Jana, it looks like it might be a case of getting caught in the cross fire. There are many villages that are situated right in the middle of the loc and sometimes people do get caught in the firing. And believe me we get such reports in the Indian media all the time. So I guess cross-firing would be a plausible explanation. But it takes nothing away from the fact that its really unfortunate. Hope the kids recover soon.
