WASHINGTON: US counter-terrorism officials have admitted that that they were caught caught off-guard by Lashkar-e-Taiba's "highly sophisticated"
Mumbai terror strikes last month, which top spies now consider the debut of a new "brand name" to rival al Qaeda.

The Islamist group was formed with Pakistani government help decades ago, but US officials admit underestimating Lashkar's shift from waging a minor conflict in the Jammu and Kashmir region to threatening Westerners and Jews.
"There is real concern over the fact LeT has raised its profile. A lot of people are watching closely now to see if they're plotting new attacks," the Daily News quoted an US counter-terror official, as saying.

The group is as mainstream in Pakistan as its ally Hamas is in the Palestinian territories, he added.



sir the article clearly exposes unites states motives.
1.they consider the live of south asians, pakistanis,indians, kashmiris to be nothing but minor events, but they are worried only when westerners or jews are killed. why cant they treat all innocent civilians to be victims of terror.

2.sir lashkar was created decades ago everyone knows about it and there two parties involved , why only blame pakistan for it.

3.for years india was pleading for a ban on lashkar but us didnt care only after 9 / 11 <they suddenly had all kinds of know how about terrorist outfits and their links >they became active with the so called war on terror but south asians were fighting the war for years before that.


still south asians never seem to understand their motive and always seek their help< either pakistan or india is always going to the us to ask for help>
why cant the US leave the battle ON terror in THE region to be fought by the 2 countries<both of them are partners against the war on terror> and they watch only as observers of the UN.

Its easy for the US to blame everything on some one else but the reality is that its the Americans back in the times of Soviet invasion of Afghanistan they financed and trained these terror groups known as Afghan Mujahideen to fight against Russia and because the US does'nt need them anymore they become terror groups.

to be honest i still dont think that india will do such a mistake .... of launching a full scale war
