United Kingdom general election, 2017

.
Who can trust May to lead Brexit talks after this fiasco?

.
The youth stepped out and took control of the future. It's due to that the elections took a swerve.

I hope one day the Pakistani people do the same.

Theresa May lost majority but will continue as PM thanks to DUP.

Theresa May called Jeremy Corbyn 'terrorist sympathiser' for meeting the IRA decades ago but forms an alliance with Irish, homophobic, religious, bigoted fundamentalists?

No.

Just in case anybody isn't quite sure what the Tories actually stand for, and what kind of interests they actually represent, then perhaps you should take a moment to consider the Party that they just agreed to effectively go into joint rule with.

The DUP (Democratic Unionist Party) is essentially a Northern Irish, Ultra Right-Wing "Christian values" Party.

- They have long fought passionately against women’s right to choose to have an abortion.

- They are explicit climate change deniers, and well known for a scandal known as "cash for ash", which is exactly what it sounds like. Huge companies throw a ton of money at them, and they allow them to f**k the environment.

- They are anti-Gay Rights, some are pro-Gay cure.

- They fought, and still fight, to stop equal marriage, making Northern Ireland the only part of this archipelago without equal relationship Rights.

And now our great and powerful Leader Chairman May, is inviting them to effectively be part of the Government.

Oh, and Theresa May's new partners in Government, the DUP, have strong historical links with Loyalist paramilitary groups. The terrorist group Ulster Resistance was founded by a collection of people who went on to be prominent DUP politicians. Peter Robinson, for example, who was DUP leader and Northern Ireland’s First Minister until last year, was an active member of Ulster Resistance. The group’s activities included collaborating with other terrorist groups including the Ulster Volunteer Force, to smuggle arms into the UK, such as RPG rocket launchers... Oh the irony.

Feel 'Strong & Stable' enough yet?

As Nizar Qabbani said "the light is more important than the lantern."

We voted for an idea. We voted for a more just arrangement of society. We voted against the corporate kleptocracy. We voted for the health of all. We voted for the education of all. We voted for the housing of all. We voted for the young. We voted for the old. We voted against war. We voted for tomorrow and we will vote again tomorrow.
You cannot kill an idea and the dynamics of political participation in this country have irrevocably changed for the better. We imagined a different way and our imaginations will not be caged again. The struggle against inverted totalitarianism continues.

Are they not led by a woman?

Theresa May just played herself. Didn't she learn from Dave's mistake?
Yes, I thought the same thing the day she called for a snap election. I asked myself if she had not learned from David Cameron's mistake of holding a referendum on E.U when he didn't have to. She also made the same mistake yet again. Lol

To make things worse, her campaign was full of mistakes, especially on the Tory Manifesto regarding the 'dementia tax' issue and free lunch for school students. That was a huge blunder, I wonder why her adviser which she relies on so much advised her to go for such a policy without consulting other members of the party(who were obviously against after it was published). This is where they "lost"(well, they still won more seats than the next top 3 parties combined) the election. Prior to this faux pas on the Manifesto, they were leading by almost double digits points against Labour . I believe it was a self inflicted defeat. They have only themselves to blame. :)

People also forget that the biggest losers here is the SNP. They fucking lost a whooping 1/3rd of their Seats, with most of them going to the conservatives followed by labour..
So much for Nicola Sturgeon independence referendum.

_96418216_scotland_in_detail_624_top.png

So the SNP won just 35 of the 59 Scottish constituencies they won during last election in 2015, a huge fall of 21 seats, all this due to her comments about a second referendum which many Scots were against .

Now, no more independence on the card for Sturgeon. :D

Nicola Sturgeon has signalled she may drop plans for a new Scottish independencereferendum after her party suffered its most significant electoral setback in decades.

Have we reached peak SNP? Don’t count on it | Lesley Riddoch

The first minister admitted that her call for a second referendum immediately after Brexit was a key factor in the Scottish National party’s loss of 21 of 56 Westminster seats, including seats held by the architect of her party’s rise to power, Alex Salmond, and the party’s deputy leader, Angus Robertson.

In a statement at Bute House, Sturgeon said she needed more time to reflect on the consequences of the election before deciding whether to press on with her quest for a referendum soon after Brexit.

I said I’m going to reflect carefully on the result and going to take some time to do that. I have now gone 36 hours without sleep and I don’t think those are the conditions to rush to judgments or decisions.”:laughcry::omghaha:

SNP suffers shock losses as Tories oust Salmond and Robertson

Tory, Labour and Liberal Democrat leaders in Scotlandcalled on Sturgeon to drop her plans for another referendum, which she had originally wanted held by spring 2019 but has since accepted may not be held until 2020 or 2021.

I was right afterall , Theresa May's top two incompetent advisors she relies on so much without consulting others in her party have resigned due to their role in this election defeat since they were the ones(especially Nick Timothy) who drafted the catastrophic social care policy and the subsequent U-turn) which cost the Tory their majority.

Theresa May aides Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill resign

Theresa May's joint chiefs of staff Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill have both resigned.

The top aides both stepped down after facing furious criticism from party MPs and officials who said they played a significant role in the party's poor performance at the General Election.

Mrs May had been given an ultimatum from some MPs warning her to sack the pair by Monday or face a leadership contest.

Mr Timothy announced his resignation in a blog post saying: "I take responsibility for my part in this election campaign".

He acknowledged that one of his regrets was the way Mrs May's social care policy - dubbed the "dementia tax" - by critics had been handled.

However, he rejected "bizarre media reports" that he had personally overseen the bungled social care manifesto commitment in the post on Conservative Home.

I regret the decision not to include in the manifesto a ceiling as well as a floor in our proposal to help meet the increasing cost of social care.

But I would like to make clear that the bizarre media reports about my own role in the policy’s inclusion are wrong: it had been the subject of many months of work within Whitehall, and it was not my personal pet project.

Shortly after he announced his resignation, a Downing Street spokesman confirmed that Ms Hill had also stepped down.

In a statement, she said: "It's been a pleasure to serve in government, and a pleasure to work with such an excellent Prime Minister.

"I have no doubt at all that Theresa May will continue to serve and work hard as Prime Minister - and do it brilliantly."

Both aides had faced bitter anger from Conservative figures who described them as "poison" and blamed them for creating a "toxic" environment within Downing Street.

Tory MP tells me "Fiona Hill has to go. She's poison, she's always been the poison. The two of them [Nick Timothy] act like Rottweilers".

One Tory MP tells me there will be a leadership challenge if the PM doesn't sack Timothy & Hill. Others are v angry but insist no challenge.

Critics within the party believe that Mrs May and her advisers declined to take enough outside advice on the election campaign and misread the mood of the country.

The Prime Minister's former spin doctor also accused the pair of top aides of "damaging" aggression and arrogance in an article describing her painful" ten months working at Downing Street.

Their resignation leaves Mrs May looking increasingly isolated.

So resignations of Hill and Timothy create a huge risk for @theresa_mayfor all that her MPs wanted them out: she has lost her human shield!

Also there is something very odd about advisers Hill and Timothy taking responsibility for Tory election debacle and not @theresa_may

13:34 - 10 Jun 2017
Shadow health secretary Jonathan Ashworth, who played a frontline role for Labour in the election campaign, said the Tories were in an "utter mess".

He tweeted: "Top Theresa May advisor resigns. More chaos in the Tory Party, more weak & unstable govt. What an utter mess from this shower."
