Unemployment in Russia in May 2014 fell to 4.9% from 5.3% in April 2014, reaching a historic low, according to Rosstat.
According to preliminary results of a sample survey on employment in May 2014 to 3.7 million people or 4.9% of the economically active population were classified as unemployed (in accordance with the methodology of the International Labour Organization), ITAR-TASS reported.
In public employment services as unemployed registered 0.9 million people, including 0.7 million people were receiving unemployment benefits.
According to Rosstat, as compared to May 2013 the number of unemployed persons decreased by 5.2% to April 2014 - by 7.1%.
Former Russian record was set in August 2012, when the unemployment rate was 5.2% of the economically active population.
 
its much lower if you count central asian guest workers and illegal immigrants into the workforce statistics. It should be something like 3-2%
