Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that the unanimous support he received in Parliament for his speech and the stand he took in Pakistan during the recent SAARC nations’ home ministers’ conference was “a historic moment”.

Addressing a small gathering at the BJP workers’ meet in Janakipuram, he said, “I will not say what you want to hear because I have already said that in Islamabad. Yesterday was a historic moment when all parties supported and welcomed my stand in Parliament.”

Singh said that the country was lucky to be under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “You have given the BJP more than it can give back to you. But the government is working for development and India’s economy is one of the fastest-growing in the world. India is a developing country now, but it will be in the stream of developed countries in next 7 to 10 years,” he said.

He said he had initiated the process for the development of a 104-km outer ring road in Lucknow and of Gomti Nagar as a “world class” railway station. Moreover, he had helped several seriously ill patients in need of financial help by getting Rs 2 crore disbursed from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for them.

Once the construction of the outer ring road and railway station begins next month, Singh said he would dwell on what more can be done in Lucknow, adding the creation of an outer ring road would lead to the development of a mini-Lucknow around it. “I want Lucknow to become the most beautiful city of culture and tradition in the country,” said Singh, who is a Lok Sabha MP from the city.

Former Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon said it was a “moment of glory” for India that Singh had “challenged Pakistan on its soil” and “returned home after boycotting their lunch”. He said that Lucknow had seen maximum development because of leaders of the BJP and Jana Sangh, including former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Singh and himself, asking the people to elect a BJP government in the state in coming elections.

Tandon added that the state government was taking credit for the Lucknow Metro without acknowledging that 60 per cent of the funds came from the Centre, without which the construction could not have begun. He claimed that there were funds coming under “Smart City” projects, but the state government was unable to utilise them as it did not want to give the Centre any credit.

Why didn't Bangladesh and Afghanistan send their home/interior ministers to Pakistan for the SAARC conference? No prizes for guessing why. It seems Pakistan has riled a lot of countries - India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, the US and the West. Even the Saudis aren't too happy and much of the Middle East too. Even China has asked them to get their act together!

It's high time Pakistan introspects and makes a course correction otherwise it will slip deeper into the rabbit hole. But that's easier said than done.

i honestly believe if all of us vote to walk out of it , even china will vote to just kick out Pakistan from SAARC since it will loose its entire value

I agree, there should be some movement in the organisation to kick pakistan out of SAARC.
It never supported any cause for development of the region, but is rather known for creating hiderances in the path.

They llike the way they live, but other countries want to move ahead and prosper, hence there should not be any obstacles in the path of nations who want to honestly work towards development of the region.

Right! They refused the sign the transport agreement - the only SAARC nation that did not. Then they refused to sign the electricity transmission agreement and later refused to join the SAARC satellite project even though India was providing it free of cost. Ego problems? Probably. They're shooting themselves in the foot where SAARC initiatives are concerned. They seem to be the proverbial elephant in the room.

But we've already moved forward with the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) which is an international organisation involving a group of countries in South Asia and South East Asia. These are: Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.

Pakistan is the odd man out due to their recalcitrance.

SAARC Summit in Pakistan was a Failure.
There is No point in Humiliating Nawaz and his Radio Jockey Ministers.
All I can say - Nawaz Sharif--I can Offer you a Lolly-Pop. Talking to you means Nothing

Actual Power and Decisions are made in RawalPindi. This event would have made Army even stronger by Globally projecting Pakistan`s Politicians as Incompetent.

This Event will add to events in Future leading to Military Take-over.
Our Issues will be resolved when Martial Law is imposed and a General Siting on other side of Table not these Rubber-Men

It is Rajnath's high point. He projected himself as a person who went into enemy territory alone and said what he wanted to say, and succeeded. And even all of the India's opposition parties were behind Rajnath -which is quite rare, in deploring Pakistan.

You guys have very low standards for your ministers. You can't become supa puwa with such low standards.
