UNSC agreed that the status of the Golan, which Israel seized from Syria in 1967, remains unchanged.

The United Nations has rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's claim that the annexed Golan Heights in Syria would for ever remain under Israeli control.

The UN Security Council agreed that the status of the Golan, which Israel seized from Syria in 1967, remains unchanged.

Chinese Ambassador Liu Jieyi, who holds this month's council presidency said that Israel's decision to impose its laws in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights was nul and void and without any international legal effect.

According to the Charter, the UNSC has no power to legally determine borders. Borders are determined between states. Israel and Syria have not done this yet: the closest they have come to it has been their mutual endorsement of UNSC Resolution 242, which endorses the right of Israel to exist within secure borders without returning all the territory it conquered in the Six-Day War - including the Golan Heights, from which Syria mounted artillery to shell Jewish villagers in the lowlands.

Yes, it does. Superior military power makes us the owner of that place.

than stop crying like B!tch over you are just defending yourself .. your military might + uncle sam are the factors you are still alive in Arabian peninsula ..

The huge amount of U.S. military assistance to Israel has more to do with the Arab-Israeli "peace process" going back to the 1973 Yom Kippur War: the U.S. guarantees Israel's military supremacy over potentially-hostile neighbors, in exchange for Israel not conquering them.

Think like King David. The answer is slice Golan into 7 equal portions. Dish it out like confetti. Everybody is happy. Three cheers for Isreal.

As long as Israel is at War with Syria, the Golan Heights can remain occupied,
but Israel has no right to annex the teritories, unless they negotiate with Assad,
and agree on the takeover (not really likely).
If Syria is split in several regions, and the region where the Golan Geights belong
seceed from Syria, then things might be different.
Legally, if the Golan Heights are part of ISIS, which has not signed the Geneva Convention,
then anyone can claim the territories.

As long as Israel is at War with Syria, the Golan Heights can remain occupied,
but Israel has no right to annex the teritories, unless they negotiate with Assad,
Historically, states annex what they conquer, then sign treaties formalizing their flag later.

The modern exception has been Russia's recent conquests in Georgia and Ukraine. Even if the Jews who settled the Golan aren't counted, given the current situation in Syria it's possible that if Israel gave up the Golan then the Golan's Druze and other Syrians would quickly vote to secede from Syria and join with Israel. Then the Golan Heights will be just as legally part of Israel as the Crimea is part of Russia.

Of course, if such a vote happens then Druze on the Syrian side of the border might vote to do the same. That would be a real mess: the Israelis wouldn't want to deal with it, nor the Syrian gov't in Damascus. So I imagine that after this SC vote many people will want to bury the issue again, as it has been for decades.

Golan Heights have a lot of crude oil reserves. The Israelis will never let it go.

We are not in Arabian peninsula BTW, but why should we stop doing something that is beneficial to us?

Think like King David. The answer is slice Golan into 7 equal portions. Dish it out like confetti. Everybody is happy. Three cheers for Isreal.
King David used to slice his enemies, that is what we are doing.

The Israelis gave up oil wells in the Sinai in exchange for peace with Egypt, so that isn't a sensible reason.

Can you cite the difference between the reserves of Sinai and Golan? I am not fucking stupid, so don't try to play games with me.
