KARACHI - Trade relations between Pakistan and Great Britain continue to progress with specific trade deals in the pipeline.
British Deputy High Commissioner and Director for Trade and Investment Mr Francis Campbell said this at a networking reception hosted by him for the 30-member UK delegation participating in the 7th Expo Pakistan Exhibition being held in Karachi. He added that Expo Pakistan facilitated the objective of increasing bilateral trade between the UK and Pakistan.
He advised Pakistani entrepreneurs to come forward and tap the expertise of UK companies in agriculture, energy and healthcare as they possessed the latest knowledge and technology in these sectors.
Mr Campbell said he felt Pakistan presented numerous opportunities for investments as it was an emerging market with a rapidly growing middle class, besides being an export base.
The leader of the visiting UK delegation, Consul and Commercial Secretary of Pakistan High Commission in UK, Mr Muhammad Hamid Ali, said he had been coming to the Expo for the last five years and appreciated the hospitality extended to the delegation by Mr Campbell and his team.
He said Pakistan is an important market for the UK and bilateral trade between was around $3.2 billion. He added the recent duty waiver from the European Union on 75 products from Pakistan would encourage British firms to buy from Pakistan. He also said that trade ties were being further strengthened.
Mr Hamid Ali said a delegation of businessmen from Sindh would be visiting the UK next month and it would be led by Governor Eshratul Ebad.

Right now Pakistani wheat is not only feeding millions of Pakistanis but whole Afghanistan too (Afghans may hate Pakistan but they all eat Pakistani rooti, too bad their fruit basket grows poppy alone) but after 2014 who will pay to feed Afghans huge appetite, so it will be a good step to increase Pakistan agriculture production to make them cheaply available.

Thankless Afghans don't even acknowledge more than 30 years of Free Pakistani Rotis, free medical, free housing, free education, you think they will acknowledge this?
