As MMA continues to grow as a sport, that means that more people will learn and know how to defend themselves in certain situations. And being the 10-2 UFC straw-weight that she is, Polyana Viana is more than capable of doing just that.

On Saturday around 8:00 PM local time, Viana had a stranger attempt to rob her of her phone. Of course, that did not at all go the way that he surely had planned.

Viana says she was waiting for her Uber to pick her up outside of her apartment complex in Jacarepagua, a neighborhood that’s located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A man sneakily approached her Viana said, as by the time that she noticed him, he was already close to her.

“When he saw I saw him, he sat next to me,” Viana told MMAJunkie. “He asked me the time, I said it, and I saw he wasn’t going to leave. So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. And then he said, ‘Give me the phone. Don’t try to react, because I’m armed.’ Then he put his hand over [a gun], but I realized it was too soft.

“He was really close to me. So I thought, ‘If it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it.’ So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, ‘Now we’ll wait for the police.’”

Always proud of his fighters in situations like this, UFC President Dana White shared a picture of the man after the incident.

Thankfully, Viana the man’s ‘gun’ was actually just some cardboard that was shaped to resemble a gun. However, it still makes for a scary situation when one isn’t 100 percent sure of what weapons their attacker can have in their possession.

“I was fine,” Viana said. “I was fine because he didn’t even react after. Since he took the punches very quickly, I think he was scared. So he didn’t react anymore. He told me to let him go, like ‘I just asked for the time.’ I said, ‘Asked for the time up my ***,’ because he saw I was very angry. I said I wouldn’t let go and that I was going to call the police.

“He said, ‘Call the police, then’ because he was scared I was going to beat him up more.”

Viana last fought at UFC 227 when she suffered her first loss in the UFC to JJ Aldrich by unanimous decision. Thus making the 27-year old 1-1 in her short tenure with the promotion so far.

How embarrassing to get beat up by a girl! If that was me, this "fighter" would be knocked up really hard!

Embarrassing is when you have a manly ego that wants to beat up a girl for being able to do which many men wont be able to.
That makes you a little girly in the skin of a man, if you're not able to appreciate strength when you see it, specially in women.

Do not under-mine my strength. I have said woman try to act so tough when they actually aren't. When they get beat up, they will cry. Real men aren't intimidated by getting into a physical fight (against men or women). You seem really scared of laying your hands on a women, are you?

Who says women are not strong or can't be and only act so?
It's unfortunate and only sad if you have only come across weaker women or might have been raised by some.

So my ability to appreciate strength in women is my fear some how based on your flawed psychology?

No I'm stronger so I appreciate strength, I prefer to know and be around women who can beat up little twinkies in the skin of men, instead of being around women who need a protector.

As for not undermining your strength, strength originates from your mind's perception and ability to appreciate it in others. However, your current mindset is revolving around ego which is far from strength an originates from a weaker inner self.

I have trained half my life for a different set of martial arts including stealthy and deceptive tactics of Ninjutsu and Samurai Jutsu.
And I'm a part time psychologist.

So I suppose I know what I'm eloquent for, more than your ego based mindset is dictating you to be? :)
You are completely wrong sir. You are spewing nothing but false points. I don't think it is necessary for me to discuss this topic to someone who will perhaps never get it.

Read the story clearly. The women "fighter" beat up the man for getting "too close" to her. Obviously, she got scared by him and felt the need to defend her self. And she did by physically beating up the guy.

What I am saying is that if I were that guy—I would've have a decisive victory against. I don't have to explain why, because I am not a bragger about what training I do. *Cough* *Cough*. I consider myself physically stronger and physically superior to the girl "fighter". I have no idea why you turned this into a "feminism" argument. You are too soft and insecure about your manhood by being so scared of hurting the feminists/liberals/Westerners feelings. Break out of your shell. As a "part-time psychologist" you are, you should know about this stuff.

u r not serious are you?
Assalam o Alaikum

Of course I am serious. I don't know what the whole situation was. Maybe he too scared to hit back the girl. Or physically weak in general.

What I meant was that I am the complete opposite of that guy. And there would've been a completely opposite result too.

You seem to have a very fragile and weak ego when it comes to women . That's very typical of Pakistan mentality though as soon as women start achieving something they feel threatened by it.

In alot of instances people boosting on the internet about how tough they are usually weaklings in real life . And no Real men don't beat up women . What a loser

That is your opinion. And my opinion is different. Let's live in peace.

I don't like to boast or brag. I clearly mentioned that in my post above. Please don't call me looser. I never called anyone else a looser.

Clearly you didn't read the article, he tried to rob her, threatening her with a gun that he never had.

I ask you to mind your own business. This is the second time I am telling you. My opinion is different to yours, and adamantly so. I don't want to get into heated arguments. Thanks!
