UAE says 4 ships targeted by ‘sabotage’ off its coast

. . . .
It's confirmed that two of the 4 ships that were attacked by groups affiliated with Iran are Saudi oil tankers.

false flag attack to blame Iran

If Iran is sensing an impeding attack it may have tried to send a message. Or related to the oil sanctions. So it's definitely real and nothing false here. This won't lead to a conflict but it is Iran sending message that if its oil tankers are prevented from moving around it will stop rest of them in the Strait of Hormuz area.

In cases similar to this we should see someone from the FM explaining what exactly happened and condemning the attack. Although attack on ships in the Arabian Gulf was expected considering the current high tension in the region, I would say our guys are waiting for the investigation to end then we will see and know more about this dangerous accident from the Foreign Ministry.

Yes I think so. The GCC will be embroiled in war in the future.

I think they know what happened, but waiting for UAE investigation to conclude. I do not think it is Houthi's, it may have been Iran directly and I wouldn't be surprised. The US would just commit to securing international waters to a higher extent. I believe UAE and Saudi Arabia are deciding to implicate Iran publicly or not, if it is worth it to head on collision course or to let it fly for now. By reading Iranian foreign ministry statement, they condemn the incident and call for investigation. But, rest of statement indicates to me they are not happy with overall situation(oil sanctions and US military deployment).

Btw,Trump made the situation worse with the oil sanctions and withdrawing from the deal. The original deal was already devastating for Iran and some sanctions still remained. So the US administration will be partially blamed and Iranian moves partially justified in international community if conflict breaks out.

Bear in mind that neither Saudi Arabia nor UAE accused Iran of this attack which is honestly weird to me.

They do not want to come off as rushing to judgment in front of the international community. And it's not clear if they hit sea mines or something else that would be more difficult to directly implicate Iran. Also if they say that then they may provide military protection for oil tankers or have to take some kind of measures to not look weak in front of their people. It's not wise to implicate Iran directly for now, you have to draw up post-strategy first. This incident has put KSA and UAE in an awkward situation as it not clear if this acts will continue and if providing military protection is a good idea or not. Imo, this situation is because of ill advised oil sanctions by Trump which went too far. Now they have nothing to lose and the Gulf nations(because of oil) will be the most affected.

It's still early morning in the Arab world so we will have to wait and see how this plays out and if there are new statements.
