U.S.-North Korea nuclear talks have broken off: North Korea negotiator

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Working-level nuclear talks between North Korea and the United States have broken off, North Korea’s chief negotiator said on Saturday.

“The negotiations have not fulfilled our expectation and finally broke off,” the North’s chief nuclear negotiator, Kim Myong Gil, told reporters through an interpreter outside the country’s embassy in Stockholm.

The North Korean delegation arrived in Stockholm on Thursday for the working-level denuclearization talks.

North Korea said on Wednesday it had successfully test-fired a new submarine-launched ballistic missile. The launch was the most provocative by North Korea since it resumed dialogue with the United States in 2018. U.N. Security Council resolutions ban Pyongyang from using ballistic missile technology.

Hahaha that fat Kim knows that Trump is not looking for escalation. Kim also knows that he will never ever let go off the nukes. You see, the respect you get with nukes is just too addicting. Trump called Kim a "Fat Rocket Man" and later he was inside N.K shaking his hand.
This would definitely make South Korea and Japan rethink their choices.

These negotiations were probably ANOTHER delay tactic by North Korea against US and a desperate and naive Trump. smh. North Korea has made serious and fast military advancement over the past 1-3 years. I just cant tell if US is actually negotiating with North Korea and Kim OR China+ Russia, using NK as a mask.

As long as China backs NK i highly doubt the Us of A will touch NK.

Having a bigger power backing you sure does bring benefits.

NK sure did play their cards right. It seems the USA got humiliated diplomatically this is not going to bind well for Trump.

Hey at least the ROK is becoming more independent not acting as a lackey of the Yanks as always but something in the press you dont see these days are trade and political tension between Japan and ROK,this is good tactic for the DPRK,and PRC to mount their plans for Northeast Asia

If Trump can be the same with Iran why not lets be honest ever since the Russo-Chinese alliance got stronger i the early to mid 2010s we seen the US much more restrained than usual

Japan and South Korea need each other too bad two Asian Economic powerhouses cant put aside their differences.

I feel people dwell upon historical past too much then again. I cant blame anybody because history and politics go together and its hard to forget what happened in the past hence why the Japanese and Koreans are at odda with each other.

I would prefer if China,ROK,DPRK,Russia in the far east, Japan walk on one lockstep in their regional strategy we are seeing ROK under Moon Jae In trying to do that with DPRK and China he has difficult task from probably the pro American elite and US Military leadership which clash with Trump as well Japan should just say whats needed and move on but then again history and historical revisonism is tough subject You Turks face it with the Greeks,Arabs and Armenians us Pakistanis with Bangladeshis and etc

for all intents and purposes, the North Koreans have moved their nuclear weapons program underground, while still testing delivery systems that can (one day) be used for nukes.

they are in total non-compliance, and clearly stalling, probably hoping to attain nuclear weapons power status in international politics.

however i see no practical way they can be forced off this national political trajectory, not right now at least.

maybe the best thing to do is to arm south korea and japan sufficiently, to prevent the North Koreans abusing their growing nuclear weapons status on the political and economic level within a few years.
