Probably carriers off the coast of Pakistan or fighters from the gulf; aka “over the horizon”. Potential retaliation probably depends on how severe the strikes were and to the Talib’s overall mission/strategy. Some kind of strike probably occurred but we will probably only find out well into the next 12-24 hours, when he dust settles.
BTW, what seems to be being set up in Kabul is what is a called a “Trip wire force” should the force be attack it will give the pretext to send in additional forces to counter attack.
