Two terrorists killed as Army fight off attack on camp in Samba

With the elimination of two terrorists outside the army camp at Maheshwar, the army operation against seems to be over as there has been no sound of gun fire for the last over an hour.
Pointing out that two terrorists have been killed, sources said that the troops were, at present, carrying out searches to clear the area of militants, if any. The area has thick bushes and also a thick nallah which can provide an ideal ground for terrorists to hide, they added.The attack on army camp at Maheshwar was the second on Jammu-Pathankote national highway in last. 24 hours two terrorists had on Friday attacked Rajbagh police station, nearly 30 away in adjoining Kathua district, killing five people including two CRPF and a police personnel, besides to civilians.
Both the terrorists had got killed after five hour long gun battle by police and para military forces.
Though there gas been no official word except that the operation was in progress, sources said that the terrorists killed at Samba and in the Kathua district were members of one group which sneaked into the Indian territory from across the international border from near Chhap nallah in Rajbagh area. However, they later got divided in group of two each, with one moving to Rajbagh and to Rajbagh.
The terrorists who proceeded towards Samba made an unsuccessful bid to enter an army camp at Maheshwar in Samba in the morning. A Vaishnodevi pilgrim identified as Pappu Yadav of UP was injured in the attack.
Sources said that the army eliminated the first terrorist around 12 noon. The second one had taken position behind a structure and he had been firing at them at intermittent intervals.
Earlier, a Defence ministry spokesman Lt Colonel Maneesh Mehta, however, said that no one has been injured by militants. Even Yadav has sustained injuries after he fell from the bicycle in panic as he was passing through the area when attack came around 5.45 am.
Yadav, who was on way to Katra on a bicycle got caught in spray of bullets fired by terrorists on an army jawan on sentry duty at the camp around 5.45 am, he said, denying that it was an attack on the army camp.
The terrorists opened fire from the road and our sentry retaliated. “We gave cordoned them,” he added.
Sources, however, said that the terrorists also threw grenades, but following retaliation by alert sentry, they were compelled to take refuge under the flyover passing outside the army camp.
