Two Pakistan Army personnel killed as vehicle targeted in Karachi

KARACHI: At least two security personnel were killed on Tuesday after unidentified gunmen fired on their vehicle near Parking Plaza in Karachi’s Saddar area.

“Two Army jawans were fired upon near Parking Plaza. One personnel has been killed while another is critically injured who has been shifted to a local hospital in a critical condition,” Karachi Police chief Mushtaq Mehar said while talking to media.

Later, the injured security personnel succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.

“We have collected some empty bullet casings of 9mm pistol from the scene, however, further investigations are still underway,” he added.

Police and rescuers arrived at the scene and cordoned the area. However, the attackers managed to escape.

Four men riding two motorcycles targetted the personnel in a Pakistan Army’s double cabin van, which hit a wall following the attack, sources told The Express Tribune.

The personnel have been identified as Hawaldar Abdul Razzaq and Lance Naik Khadim Hussain, sources added.

The army needs to be more vigilant and use transport that cannot be targeted so easily. To see this happening in Karachi is tough, as there is so many suspects, chief being the TTP.

Sacrifices wouldn't be forgotten and hopefully the on going op would come in more pace.

Second time that Army personnel are targeted though the point being highlighted would have CCTV indeed and is close to Army residence/office area adjacent to Lines Area which is politically under control of one Major Political party of Karachi and highly populated. The terrorists wouldn't escape and In'sha'ALLAH would be brought to justice.

The people mostly opposing the Karachi op should not be ignored in these contexts. There are many elements involved in Karachi other than only Political parties as well from MQM to PPPP (Liyari Gang War), the sectarian and extremists groups. Though the mentioned area is way out of reach of Liyari Gang War (PPPP) groups but is mostly under control of MQM, Sunni Tehreek and recently MQM Haqiqi as well as extremists elements.
