You do know foldable wings merely help increase storage capacity and has nothing to do with lift capability of aircraft carrier. Even above deck F18s are kept with their wings folded which allows more space for flight ready aircrafts. Only reason for not choosing Rafale is cost and second it is simply better plane than rafale nothing to do with foldable wings. Lastly US has been eager to move manufacturing of fighters in India something French refused.

Do I need to remind you how much Qatar paid for just 36 F15 QA ... EX will cost even more and 110 of those with 36 additional Rafael and 57 super Hornets that's more than 50 billion usd good luck paying that to uncle sam ....

I’d rather doubt it, since the margins are basically non-existant.
The INS Vikrant has 10 meter wide elevators, designed for the MiG-29KUB which has a folded wingspan of 7,5 meters giving a margin of more than 1 meter in each direction. The SuperHornet is 9,32 meter giving a margin of 34 cm in both directions which is way below acceptable.

I think buying more Rafales is a terrible idea but you have to admit it is still much superior than constructing flying coffins like the Tejas.
