Bodies of two Pakistanis due from India today

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: India will hand over the dead bodies of two Pakistani nationals, including that of a woman, to Pakistani authorities at Wagah border today (Friday), sources said on Thursday.

They said all necessary arrangements had been completed to receive the dead bodies and the relatives of the deceased had also been informed. Rashida Bibi was arrested on May 8, 2006 and died in jail on May 21 this year. The second body is of a Pakistani prisoner who died in Jodhpur. So far no details have been provided either by the Pakistani or Indian authorities. A letter by the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Satyabrata Pal published in Daily Times of June 1, mentioned the two deceased but failed to provide the circumstances leading to their death

LAHORE, Pakistan, June 13 (AP) - Pakistan's government called Friday for Indian authorities to investigate the deaths of Pakistanis in its custody after the bodies of two prisoners were returned by New Delhi. Pakistani border official Col. Tariq Janjua said the bodies were handed over to relatives at the main international checkpoint between the two countries at Wagha near the eastern city of Lahore. Janjua identified the dead as Abdul Halim, 31, who was arrested in 2001 after crossing into India from southern Sindh province, and Shahida Bibi, a 60-year-old woman accused in 2005 of smuggling drugs. He said the causes of death were unclear. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry expressed “deep concern” over the treatment of Pakistanis in Indian jails and called for a thorough investigation into the deaths. It noted that India had returned two other bodies of Pakistani prisoners earlier this year. (First Posted @ 19:30 PST Updated @ 21:18 PST)

Who want peace with evil indians?
Why media underreport such incidents?
Why democratic govt. don't care about the lives of its citizens? Is Pakistan made for Sharif family and Zardari family?
I hope PPP will ask UN (as a policy) for the indian brutalities!

Her two daughters, who were also arrested with her with the contraband, are still lodged in Amritsar jail and face a drugs trial.

Dude where is your link?
Just wait for autopsy or has it been done already by indians?
Why only Pakistani prisnors are dying?
You really seems to have very impartial policy for entering india without proper documentation or loosing passport in india.
Some times you deport certain people, some time you hand them over to border security, some times you kill them on the spot and some times ...this.
I trust the family of the victim more than your post.

1. Autopsy was done in India but I am not sure they are going to do in Pakistan again.

2. I wish I could answer that question and believe me I feel sorry for thier families.

3. If some one has no documents or they "say" that lost passport would your country treat them differently? Wouldn't you try to investigate to find out that they are not spy, terrorists or Jihadi maniacs?

These prisoners weren't killed on the spot, they died from natural caused. Did stress contributed thier death?, may be.

Do you judge some one before really finding out what happed? Before calling Indians murderers or something, shouldn't you try to find facts? or your opinions are always based on the what you just read?

I think you may like to heed Khalsa's advice.

I think that is a very sagacious post.

Thats what your media said that how they were died rather than telling the other details.

And howcome that in only two months many Pakistani prisoners died and their deadbodies were sent to Pakistan.

And one wonders how old the daugthers of this poor Old Pakistani woman are now and how old they were when they were arrested by India.

And above all will these poor two girls will come back alive and we are going to recieve their deadbodies too.

And what happend to Ansar Burney did the Indian govt allow him to visit Indian jails ??? alas we paying the price for letting Indian spy alive

Let's wait for the autopsy.

And then ???

Would the Indian government accept the responsibility for killing these Pakistanis??

and there are also reports that another Pakistani prisoner has died in Amratsir Jail.

Its strange that all these Pakistanis die in Amratsir Jail.
