Two militants killed during search operation in Pulwama

In yet another case of violence in the Valley in the last few weeks, two militants were killed in an encounter in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday morning.

The security forces and militants exchanged fire in Newa's Malwari village, Pulwama, where a search operation was launched early morning.

A police official confirmed that two militants were killed in the operation. However, the identity of the militants could not be ascertained. Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight.

Violent protests broke out between local protesters and security personnel during the operation.

The latest incident has taken the number of militants killed in the Valley in the last ten days to 12.
