Strange and sad.

What ugly tank was it who couldnt survive a pond?!
We usually see Pakistan tanks under going a pond drive during training and hard jumps in ponds.

Was he sleeping anyways who couldnt see the pond??
Too strange.

RIP young soldiers - sadly many soldiers of all armies are killed in training - cause of live ammunition etc. But this one is bizzare - someone in charge should have been looking out for them.

Those killed were because the tank turned over...no tanks worldwide are built to be used in water upside down. Please read the explanations before jumping to conclusions or finding fault. Any tank can be turned over by several means, starting with a land mine or a bazooka shot...as well as due to natural obstacles that can turn a tank over. Sad news and we all should offer prayers of our various faiths, mine is Christian, for the families of the killed and for the killed.

In this instance careful reading of the article tells us all the tank became upside down in an "artificial pond." To me that says in a "training pond" whose constuction as an artificial pond could well have created the physical reason the tank was turned over to begin with.

the news does not mention the type of tank. if it frowned in a pond and crew cluldnt escape it must be junk.

that must be a design flaw if there is no escape hatch for an overturned tank.

Assuming it was a T-55, the tank itself does have an escape hatch under its belly. Also known as "beteer".

This incident is very, very strange. And sad. They seriously look into the matter.

By the way, most pre-T-64 Soviet era tanks had laughable crew ergonomics and safety.

Just a thought: India could develop its own light tank to replace those aging T-55s.
