New variant of Yakamos national sonar called “Yakamos2020” have been developed for Istanbul class frigates.

During sonar development phase, Some sections of national sonar integrated on Milgem corvettes, were purchased from foreign sources. When the relations get worse with West, They started to issue some difficulty not to deliver sub-sections of national sonars. Firstly, It is realised that PGA cards are no longer allowed to be sold to Turkey so Turkey developed own PGA cards. The noise level of the cards developed is lower than the previous cards.

Similarly, the ADC-DAC cards that were procured from abroad but are no longer possible to purchase from the same source So This cards also developed by national sources. Later, They refused to sell some components of transducer and finally blocked the sale of ceramic dust to Turkey. Turkish institutes have developed all critical components of national sonars to declare self sufficiency in this critical area. They did everything to halt our naval programs but their plans have been broken down step by step.

as far as I know , you should be more advance compare to Iran in this field , after all you once had great shipping industry and strongest naval force in EU in Ottoman era while we never could make permanent and strong naval force in Persian Gulf because south of Iran doesn't have enough good trees for this purpose .... not having a naval force and naval business route was the main reason we lost our business to Britain and Portugal which lead to resource crisis in Safavid and Qajar era ...

after 500 years of just sitting and couldn't do anything , we start to making a decent naval force for ourselves ....

Turkey has 16 frigates (8 Perry+ 8 Meko), 9 corvettes+1 (6 old French Aviso+3 milgem, 1 milgem on test to join navy)

no, not all critical parts. Engine German, LM2500 USA, Smart-s Radar Thales(but we build almost everything at home), main gun is Italian.

no not yet, There are 3 Type 214 in construction, there would be total of 6, after that Turkey would start their own design.

do you build your own submarines !?

6 U-214TN submarines (German design, Turkish built) are being constructed in Turkiye at present. First submarine is called PiriReis. Turkish industry contributes to U-214TN around %81 for per submarine. That is a good indication to reveal the maturity of Turkish industry.

U-214, designed by Germany, has actually caused many problems to costumers. The first costumer of U-214 was Greeks. This submarine in the hands of Greeks arised many serious problems in trials. One of the major problem was about stability issue so Greek Navy refused to accept those submarines until Germans solve the problems. Later, S.Korea purchased same submarines. The submarines produced by S.Koreans were the one that design optimisations are applied.
The solution to the stability problem of U-214 by Germans was to add weights to certain places in the submarine in order to create a stability for Turkish variants. But Turkish Navy was not satisfied and so come up with its own solution where the center of gravity of the submarine was relocated by adding extending the length of the submarine. The solution has to be validated by Germans and this is one of the delay in the Turkey’s U-214TN project. This also means that Turkish Navy is re-designed seriously in submarine and problems solved with solution of Turkish design team. In the end Turkish Type 214 submarines will be a few meters longer and heavier than the other nations Type 214 submarines.

U-214TN is considered to be the last submarine construction project where Turkiye cooperates with a foreign shipyard to construct it. The name of national submarine program “MilDen” to be designed, developed with Turkish subsystems and components will come into our agenda after 2020. According to admiral Bostanoğlu, The Milden have following domestic features:

Long range land attack missile (Gezgin) launching capability (VL)
Sub-Atmaca SSN launching capability
Locally developed torpedos (Akya)
Link-16/22 capability
Enhanced COMINT, SIGINT capability
New generation snatiınal sonars
National AIP technology
National battery technology
