Turkish Missile Programs

@cabatli_53
Didn't you say that Infrared guided missiles are easy to counter in the future with lasers(?) frying the seekers?

Doesn't that mean Hisar series will be counterable fairly soon?
Assuming MAWS detected the launch and could pan some sort of laser towards the missile I wouldn't doubt if the missile could be neutered.

HISAR A and O use more than one guidance system through the flight. During the terminal phase just before the weapon impacts its target the IIR seeker will be activated.

Turkey's Gokdogan beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile has been test-fired for the first time. (TÜBITAK SAGE)

Turkey’s Gokdogan (Peregrine) beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile has been test-fired for the first time, the Defence Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE) of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) tweeted with a video on 10 January.

The missile was fired from an F-16 wing on the ground, hitting its aerial target.

It is scheduled to enter service with the Turkish Air Force Command in 2021, replacing the US-built Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM).

How long before this BVR missile finishes testing and becomes operational? Would love to see it on the JF17 for sure! Another arrow in the JF17s quill !
Probably not gonna happen. If you wanna integrate an air to air missiles to a jet you must hand over all critical data of air to air missile to the jet, and since JF17 is a joint chinese-Pakistani project, Turkey won't gift all critical data of Gökdoğan / Bozdoğan to china. It would create a weakness for Turkish State. But of course, Pakistani F16's can use it, or if Pakistan become a part of TFX, Gökdoğan / Bozdoğan will be an option for you.

Its range is just 65 km. Pl 15 is 150+ km
Reliable Turkish reporters stated that 65km is ''no escape zone'' for Gökdoğan missile. What does that mean you might ask, it means PL15's ''150km range'' only means this missile can fly up to 150km, but it real life scenario you can't shot a jet from 150 km, jet will use the electronic countermeasures and geographical landscape, (Mountains for example) and will easly break the lock to run away from the missile. That's why this ranges are only for advertising purposes.
A good example would be the Meteor air to air missile,
''Meteor offers a multi-shot capability against long range manoeuvring targets, jets, UAVs and cruise missiles in a heavy electronic countermeasures (ECM) environment with range well in excess of 150 kilometres (81 nmi), but no-escape zone of over 60 km''

.
if there is a serious demand, SAGE can make export versions of those missiles. export version doesnt mean inferior but some changes like data link frequency and RF seeker frequency. those should be keep under secret. if you guys put them on JF17 China will get all the data. Traditionally IR-IIR guided missiles are easy to install but Bozdogan has high off bore sight feature and data link too for locking the enemy behind. Bozdogan range is another story, the missile has huge mass probably range much bigger than 25kms.

Range is irrelevant in a fight, if you open your radar in air your enemy can see you from 300km away:-). Range is not everything... Thats why awacs are in the game, only dumb airforce will us ther fighter radar....

Then thats really good. I have heard that Meteor's NEZ is the highest among other BVRs. Thats really an achievement then. Good luck Turks

  • Above Rmax: Pilot should not launch missile, no chance of success.
  • Between Rmax and Rmax2: Reasonable chance of successfully intercepting the target.
  • Between Rmax2 and Rmin2: No escape zone, almost 100% chance of successfully intercepting the target.
  • Between Rmin2 and Rmin: Reasonable chance of successfully intercepting the target.
  • Below Rmin: Missile will not launch due to the safety of the pilot being threatened.

NEZ and Rmax ranges are dynamic figures and mostly about kynetic energy of missiles. Weapon engagement zone is based on some parameters: target heading, shooter pitch, target altitude, shooter altitude, target angle off-boresight, target velocity, and shooter velocity. Mission computer calculates the NEZ, WEZ ranges in accordance to parameters received from radar and inform the pilot bia HUD.

NEZ range figures If the shooter and target is appoaching to eachother.
