Turkish Army offensive takes disastrous turn in east Aleppo as slain soldiers litter battlefield

BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 P.M.) - The Turkish Army, alongside their rebel allies, launched a large-scale offensive in eastern Aleppo on Wednesday, targeting the western flank of Al-Bab City, which is under the control of the so-called "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham" (ISIS).

Initially, the offensive would get off to a great start in western Al-Bab, as the Turkish Army and their allies imposed full control over Jabal Aqeel after a short battle with ISIS.

Not long after capturing Jabal Aqeel, the Turkish forces attempted to push further west of the aforementioned mountaintop; however, this would prove to be a fatal mistake, as the Islamic State militants managed to repel this attack and launch their own counter-assault.

Using VBIEDs (vehicle borne improvised explosive device), ISIS suicide bombers would devastate the Turkish Army defenses, killing dozens of soldiers and forcing the remaining military personnel to abandon their positions and equipment.

According to the terrorist group's official media wing, ISIS killed more than 70 Turkish soldiers, while also capturing two Leopard tanks and a bulldozer near the Al-Farouq Hospital.

This is not true,we lost 16 soldiers,got the tank and buldozer back.

This is not true,we lost 16 soldiers,got the tank and buldozer back.

I believe that was only in one attack with the VBIED? Plus another 2 captive soldiers executed. There is also a lot of footage of Turkish IFV and tanks being hit which is not survivable.


For instance this leopard got its turret blown off, assuming there were 4 occupants it's guaranteed that the entire crew was killed:

A regular army can't counter these terrorist when region is full of all type of weapons. Heavy weapon has no role, when all type of ATGM is easily avail in the region.
@Sinan @cabatli_53 Do you think Turkish govt push Turkish army inside Syria without any planning. ? ..Because the way ISIS is handling the battlefield , it seems they are playing according to there plan and Turkish army enter the region without reading the terrain.

Syria is a new experince for TSK, for years it fought pkk which is following a different warfare than isis (though pkk recently adopted suicide bombing too), a lot more air support is needed which is why negotiaions with Russia are going.

ATGMs can take out basically any tank nowadays.
Losing a few tanks and squads of Infantry is no disaster.

They will be moaned by Turkey, but Turkey will survive and respond appropriately.
